Soldiery ?

The 3.0 patch notes say that Soldiery tomes are disappearing (for everyone, even those without access to the new Law tomes). But they don't mention how the formerly Soldiery gear will be obtained next.

The i70 Philosophy gear became drops from Brayflox Longstop (Hard). The i90 Mythology gear became tradeable for tokens dropped from the Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard), Snowcloak, or Sastasha (Hard). Where will the i100 Soldiery gear come from once Soldery no longer exists?

You can already buy the Soldiery gear with allied seals.
Another option can be that they put them into the 2.4/2.5 mainstory quest rewards

I guess I assumed that was going away the same as the ability to get Myth gear from Allied Seals went away when Myth tomes themselves went away. But I guess the patch notes didn't really say that part is happening again, and with Centurio Seals being introduced specifically for hunts in the HW regions, it's possible our Allied Seals are staying as-is.

That's possible, too. (I hope, though, they do it more like the i90 gear that drops as tokens tradeable for any job's gear, rather than the i70 that drops as specific pieces of equipment, whether it's the one you want or not.)

I wish I knew how it was going to be handled, though. There's a fair amount of it I'm going to want but haven't collected if I haven't leveled that job far yet. It seems like a significant enough change that it would have belonged in the Patch Notes.

That, or they may just add lv100 soldiery gear to the loot table of dungeons that already drop lv100 gear.

Remember that the very same dungeons that drop darklight (lv70 "blue" gear previously purchased with Tomes of Philosophy) also drop lv70 "green" gear.

this, they're more likely to get moved into teh level 51 dungeon and they're already available through hunting, this isnt' the first time they've done away with tomes, there's a new kind every 6 months and the lowest value one disappears. Its really nothing new.

The part that's new is that they're removing the lower value tomes from everyone but only allowing the newer replacement for certain players and not others. (Tomestones of Law come from the Heavensward expansion.) Given that there's an expansion involved this time, I was expecting (and hoping) that they'd keep Soldiery and Poetics unchanged but limited to the ARR regions, while Law and Esoterics were for the HW regions.

Poetic - need a lv50+ job to earn it - lv 50 / ilevel 120 equip
Law - need a lv60 job to earn it - lv 60 / ilevel 170 equip
Esoteric (weekly capped, come 4 weeks after release ingame) - need a lv60 job to ean it - lv 60 / ilevel ??? equip

That's why I said they're removing the lower value tomes from everyone but only allowing the newer replacement for certain players. Law and Esoteric are exclusive to Heavensward and not available to ARR players. ARR players are going from having both Soldiery and Poetics to only Poetics and nothing else.

Agreed, will just be mixed in with the loot drops of the dungeons. Perfect way for new people to catch up as well (those who didnt have a chance to farm for the tomes and items)
