How much difference does the potion make for your dps? Those things get expensive.

My personal stance on potion usage is to not use them when you're learning the fight. When we start getting to the end of the fight, I'll pop X-Pots. No Drac pots, because I don't like spending money.

They can be the difference between an enrage wipe, and a clear. But then again, so can a piece of loot. Think of potions as a way of bumping up your DPS that may not be strictly necessary; big numbers are great for showing off and that

I've got about 1170-1180 DPS on a dummy now without potions/food/party at i190. Pretty sure my issue at this point is the fact that double-weaving clips me pretty heavily in places. Will provide a video later maybe. Might need to stick to pre-cast Battle Litany and/or stagger IR or something. Pretty sure the biggest clip is happening with BL/B4B though.

Sorry for the question about a fight as irrelevant as Faust, but I just wanted to know where my numbers fell on the scale, in general. It seems that I'm usually the top parse but it's hard to measure yourself when it's against people who typically don't care enough to optimize. Thank you all for the perspective though!

I bought a ton of Mega Potions because they were super cheap and I wanted to get used to the potion opener.

I'm not in a static at the moment but I thought it would be a good thing to get used to.

I made nearly 100 of just hi pots of str for dummy practice, mats are easy to get. I believe mega pots still use shark oil so they shouldn't normally be cheap.

I'm not certain how str pots affect dps, but just eyeballing it x-pot hq would prolly be around 100 more dps for that 15 sec

At i192, DRAC pots are roughly 10% DPS increase in burst, but, 1+10%*15/270 = 1.00555555555% overall DPS increase, per Potion application.

At i192, X-Pots are roughly 8.4% DPS increase in burst, but, 8.4%*15/270 = 1.00466666666% overall DPS increase, per Potion application.

A 10% increase in your Strength, is literally, a 10% increase in damage. Use my Damage Model on the OP if you're unsure.

So, if you were doing 1200 dps without pots, that means with an hq drac pot, you'd do around ~1206.7 dps. With an hq x-pot, you'd do ~1205.6.

Although, to be fair, that 10% damage increase typically comes while all of your buffs are in play, so the dps increase is probably 40-50% greater, around 9-11 dps most likely.

So basically your rotation, gear, and up-time on the boss is way more important than the boost from a potion. Potions really shine best in short burn window situations.
