sure the guy is lvl 60 but he basically took no damage

Thank God.
Well he was also in i170.
The part when 2 mobs starting hitting him seemed to make a bigger difference than 2 arr mobs hitting someone. Especially since those mobs were just a few levels lower instead of level 60. Especially at first the mobs will feel like they hit a lot harder.
Old world mobs weren't dangerous when we were in raid-entry gear.
I wouldn't think it'd be any different for new world mobs...

seconded. We have dungeons you know...ff14 can't possible present a "challenge" to a solo player, we live and die by the trinity. No use pretending ff14 will ever have an open world worth thinking about outside of levelling. The illusion is fun though, i'll grant you that.
Eh your accusation doesn't take into account where they were, how strong the area is compared to the strongest and weakest and of course gear. Of course at i170 they could make it look like it's no issue but they could also be at an easier area. Remember when you level sync for a FATE you aren't just the bare minimum for the fight you are at a level that makes you more than capable of handling it with ease.
who cares, do you really want to have to fight for your life to walk from one place on the map to another?
The reason most F2P MMOs have such powerful world enemies is because they benefit from you getting killed on the field and frustrated.
World enemies give neither loot nor decent EXP, it would be asinine for them to be hard just for the sake of it
It's also entirely pointless even having enemies at all if they can't kill you. See the problem? There needs to be at least some risk of death else it's just a mindless grind.who cares, do you really want to have to fight for your life to walk from one place on the map to another?

The fact is Yoshi has said open world enemies have been made tougher. Soloing one should be fine but taking on more than one enemy at once is meant to be difficult. I'm inclined to believe he was telling the truth and whatever footage the OP is referring to simply has the player overlevelled and overgeared.

it was the duty commenced where they were all jobs i170 lvl 60
course you did get to see the damage (monsters did around 298 at 52 500 at 56) but once again better gear soo it would change a bit.
the fate they did the boss did 1k at most. (during the whole thing they dodged all aoes so we don't know how much those do)
