[Suggestion] Please take some ideas from FFXII.

I'm serious. I think the battle system would work perfectly for FFXIV, with some minor adjustments of course. There were battle chains (which can be used for EXP instead of increase loot drops) and traps for the dungeons which added surprise. The Zodiac Job System worked in designating specific roles for the characters. The music had a grand MMO feel and there were a variety of difference races. So please look at FFXII as well, I think that game had many wonderful ideas that could work for XIV. Thank you for reading.

There are already quite a few things reminiscent of FFXII (I believe the art director might be the same?) which I think is a very good thing. I love the similarities in art style and the semi-modern looking versions of armour coming out that seem similar to stuff in XII.

I do agree though, I always thought XI would've been great if it'd been made after XII and taken on some of it's gameplay aspects (not the targetting-eye-lasers mind, those got kind of annoying) it could've been a much more interesting game. Here we are in the next MMO after XII and it sort of feels like they forgot a lot of the neat things they'd done there, though obviously it's a lot harder to implement things in an MMO scenario than offline.

Really? It didn't annoy me at all, oh well. If XIV was released with the "laser targeting" system I think behests would be a bit more easier to organize. Sometimes the "attack this" icon that go over the mob's name is too small to see.

Oh yeah definitely, but I think they could make some of the things in XII work out online.

Yes i agree, they should look for inspiration to other ff titles. I mean those things were fun to do, and most of the stuff ff fans want can be easily put into this game. Nobody i talked to wanted some over complicated battle system that will bore mmo players but was exiting for single player games. It was always something like card games, chocobo's or hunting missions. I think it would do well in this game.

so I'm not the only one who kept thinking "this would make a damned good mmo" while playing FFXII?

    Gambits>macros
    kill chains>mindless grind
that stupid ability grid<the current FFXIV job system (dude, thats something that sucked and ended up killing character uniqueness)

That's the general consensus I get from everyone that has played FFXII. If they just turned FFXII into an MMO it would be golden.

You're thinking of the original License board that came out in the original release of FFXII. In Japan, they released an International version that changed the License board, it was called the Zodiac Job System. You had to select a zodiac sign for your character and each sign was a different job, once you selected that job you couldn't change it.
