Whats with the price of minions

Has there been a sudden rush to own that elusive minion or something?
Since 3.0 minions that were 600k on my server all have asking and actually selling prices of over 5million!!!

65k minions are fetching almost 2 million gil.. its just downright crazy..
I think since less ppl running old content its somewhat to be expected but really..

Maybe the drop rate needs to be expanded?

Supply and demand I think - I guess the dungeons that supplied the ones that were rare and elusive drops just aren't being run any more, thus the supply has dried up and raised the price considerably.

Or it's just people being greedy again.

Very few people are running those dungeons and there is a high demand for gil atm. People are trying to make a quick buck while they can.

Check the sale history.

Unless your server is full of fools with more gil than sense, those outrageously overpriced minions probably aren't selling for those prices. It won't be long until they drop down, frankly (I give it one, two weeks before they're 100-50k each)

Huge influx of new players due to Heavensward and they all have about 1-2 mil from leveling.

There aren't any gil sinks for players that are coming from a traditional MMO that have just powered through to get to raiding.

• no melding required (huge gil sink)
• plenty of basic food for the 3% xp bump from quest rewards
• you don't need any consumables but you get plenty from quest rewards anyway
• gear through quests and dungeons

FFXIV has vast crafting portion that costs a metric $#!% ton of gil if you want to speed through it, but there is literally only profit to be made by leveling a War or Magic job.

This extra gil has to go somewhere...

And since there's no housing plots available anywhere to buy...

Minions are pretty cheap here. I think it just depends from server to server.

Here the price of minions didn't raise like that but I see minions that were 50k being around 200k now. In the other hand colorable high lvl gear skyrocketed for some classes. :/

I thought most minions drop in chests? So you can do every old dungeon undersized and farm it in 10 mins with 2 ppl (or alone).


Best price raise for me: Kissing Trout HQ (100 Gil in 2.x) went up to 34000 Gil.
I had still 20+ on my retainer 'cause i forgot to throw'em away. Lucky me.
