I really hope the producers listen to their player base on this one. The whole thing just gives me a bad taste in my mouth. Also, I've never heard any other game talk about having so much problems with data storage before. I don't understand why this is such a big problem.

I agree, which is why I cringed when people kept asking for Fantasia in there. Nothing should be in the Mog Station besides your subscription and maybe extra eternal bond packages. I've been against it since the start and can't agree more though I'd like to be optimistic against all hope if enough people complain they'll do away with some of it and stop this slippery slope. Unfortunately I was quite busy in my life outside of the game when they first started the shenanigans so I wasn't able to address it and voice my opinion at the start.

I think the inventory issues stem from the system they built upon. I agree from a service standpoint that the inventory should not be an issue for people who want to play everything because it is an option. I'm tired and half asleep, so I could be half-dreaming up this answer, but they could probably update their database with a new table that keeps track of specific player IDs and pairs them up with the IDs of items that they own or owned. With that in hand, the player only needs to have owned an item at some point in time to count towards glamour. The game would just query the game's database for items you owned, show you a list, and let you pick what you want in order to change your item appearance using the glamour system. No inventory space required.

This would require changing the schema of the database, but adding a new table that doesn't effect any of the other relations shouldn't pose an issue for the design team.

I would really like to find someone with all classes to 50 who thinks storage "isn't a problem". If such a person exists they must not care at all about glamour.

So you're stockpiling weapons in the vague and not-even-definite chance that maybe - just MAYBE - you might use it someday as a glamour? Well, I'm sure come the day Yosh let's us have a glamour for every day of the week then you'll be set!

It makes sense to stockpile given materials for regular routine projects or materials that can be troublesome to come by, but to stockpile anything and everything without an actual plan to use all of it in the near future? THAT IS ALL WHAT HORDING IS! You're hording damn near everything and bitching to SE because they aren't giving you something to encourage continued terrible habits.

Lets be honest
You already have several hundred inventory spaces
If you can't manage with those, these extra retainers will allow those not so good at things to get by : )

I really do not understand people defending this change.

Do people like being screwed over? Is it fun?
Why are people happy about a service that should be in the game by default?
Why are people happy that some players will have a clear advantage because they spend more money?

I really do not get it. Maybe gaming is doomed to die after all.

This game gives you 100 inventory spaces, 350 retainer spaces, 25 armory chest spaces per equipment slot, an armoire which can hold certain unique items, and if you really need it there are 40 market board slots. Not to mention that there's also a total 150 slots in the Free Company Chests which will probably be expanded as new FC ranks come out. That's a total of 450 free slots and 300 specific gear slots per character. Not only is this more than most MMORPGs, but most stackable items stack all the way up to 99. There is a CRAZY amount of free storage in this game, and if you don't seem to have enough space then it's either time to clear out all of those useless monster drops or suck it up and pay SE so you can continue with your hoarding problem.

SE should hire you for all the free PR work you're doing! :^)

It's easy to understand. People may have a different opinion. You have the right to express your opinion and people have the right to agree or disagree.

Both sides have valid points. It's not a matter of who is wrong or right.
