*There will be maintenance before early access starts.
This maintenance will update the data for the expansion, A Realm Reborn content, and implement other fixes.
Characters that have met the requirements to enter Heavensward areas can enjoy FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward right away.
Characters that have not met these requirements can continue to play FINAL FANTASY XIV: A Realm Reborn content as normal.

Most likely sometime during tomorrow night. It'll probably be that you access the client and it starts downloading a ton of data (heavensward). Just won't be able to get in. As it gets closer to EA time, there might be a little more data to download. Starting 2.am PT they will be working on implementing heavensward for a full day. You probably won't start downloading it till closer to the conclusion of the maintenance.

I already downloaded Heavensward. It does not appear to have its own client. It's an add-on for ARR. I'm a little surprised too.

this makes sense to me, it's just a VERY large patch. It's not like it's a whole new game.

If it's the 1.7GB patch, that would be the add on to the client. The actual HW patch is significantly bigger.

But yeah, HW is just like any other patch, it doesn't have it's own separate client.

several of my FC mates have reported that the HW patch is already available for download on PSN. No reports yet of PC downloads though

The download that people are getting on PSN is not the actual content. I think it's a pre-req download in preparation for heavensward. The actual expansion is 30gb, as stated on the page. RIP.
