They are stopping trial accounts from sending friend requests and which will help a little as they almost all seem to send friend requests first but I think the need to create a player based /tell filter option where players can type in criteria of player names they don't want to receive tells from. For example I have over 40+ on my blacklist (roughly receive around 6-10 per day of which I routinely have to clear them out over time) just from two gil selling websites that have partial website name in the character names so if I could block a specified arrangement of letters within a name as a name I don't want to receive tells from like "Ggatm" or "Wtbgg" or "Sell" or "Cheap" or "Buy" etc then I would have roughly 40 less in my blacklist that wouldn't have been able to message me.

Which, much like only being able to send mail to people on friends list, is a really oddball way to approach an issue that other games have already mostly dealt with. The answer isn't making the game less friendly for actual players. The answer is dealing with the actual problems of RMT. This level of intrusion is present because SE insists on reinventing the wheel.

A simple report feature has been needed since day 1. And I don't mean locking it to this specific type of message or that one, I don't mean filling out a lengthy report that's buried in 5 menus, I mean a right click on a name, Report Spam, and then its automatically blocked from your view and ships a little flag off to some holding area somewhere on the account. The account gets enough flags, and it gets investigated.

I mean, this isn't complicated. It really, really isn't.

Your solution is not a good solution though in my opinion, I almost never get sent multiple tells from the same gil sellers because they get blacklisted after the first one. They send a friend request from trial spam account and/or send a tell...then it is a different trial account character that pesters me next time around. What your proposing is simply a streamlining/more efficient way to just report but would have little to no effect on the amount of /tells or friend requests RMT they send you.

I wouldn't be against streamlining reporting but I am sure that it will do almost nothing to solve the pestering by them and I do not think would have any big effect on how many get banned whether SE have to go through a list of reports from 10 people using current method or 100 reporting same bot/RMT in a more efficient reporting method since it's the same amount of characters reported that need to be investigated even if the amount of people reporting that character is more/less.
