    Ultimate RMT Spam Killer.. Us.

Rather than coding in more and more regex to flag/block RMT spam.. Why not leave it up to the players?

My idea is rather simple and in my opinion, ultimately, fool-proof.

Add the option "Report as RMT" to the right-click menu for incoming /TELL and Friend Request names, but limit reports against players to one per person.
Again, this clickable-option is only available to /TELL or Friend-List Request recipients.

Keep a running 'tally' of how many "Report as RMT" clicks a character's account has received in, say, 30 minutes.

If any given player receives more than 10 'Report as RMT' flags in 30 minutes, block the account (not just the character) from being able to send TELLs or Friend Requests for, say, 1 hour for the first offence. The 2nd offence could be 12 hours pending Task Force review.

Personally, I can't really see any flaws in such a system and this also has the added benefit of reducing the workload of the STF, while making it soo much faster and easier to remove RMT spammers from the game.

    Edits and a summary:
Incoming Tells and Friend Requests can be right-clicked and 'Report as RMT'
Each SE Account can only file one report against another SE Account, every hour.
Filing a confirmed False report will forever disable the 'Report as RMT' function for your entire SE Account.
15 reports in less than 30 minutes blocks your SE Account from being able to send /TELLs or Friend Requests for 1 hour. (2nd offence is 12hours + STF Review)
Only Unsolicited tells can be reported, if there's active communication, they can not be. (See quote below)

I'm aware a few people may be trolled, but it'll only happen once per-troll as they will no longer be able to use the feature, and the added thread of a ban for this should be a sufficient deterrent.
Maybe missing one, but that's the gist of it.

    Unsolicited tells:

No absolutely not. All people would need is some of their friends to use this to harass people.

This would be used to bully people it wouldn't do any thing for rmts since they would just creat a spam bot to replace that bot.

Only way to combat rmt is to ban their ISPs and people to stop buying Gil.

That's why you limit it to one report against any given player per SE account.

If you read again what I stated, I already addressed your 'create another bot' concern with the 5th sentence.

If any given player receives more than 5 'Report as RMT' flags in 30 minutes, block the account (not just the character) from being able to send TELLs or Friend Requests for, say, 1 hour for the first offence. The 2nd offence could be 12 hours pending Task Force review.
SE will not ban entire ISPs, and you'll never stop people from buying gil, just not the way the world works.. So while that eutopic thought is nice, it's never going to come to pass.

If you're that concerned with bullying, then simply increase the number of reports required to 10. The odds of you getting 9 friends to deliberately harm another player in such a manner, I think, are small.. There's also GMs to assist in such manners as making false claims (as it's considered harassment) could be a punishable offence, which should deter most, if not all, potential offenders.

    Edit:
Lastly, your bullying is still possible with just a couple more mouseclicks, you can report anyone ingame for harassment and/or cheating, which gets them put up for investigation anyway. So my idea wouldn't really add any increased risk of harassment.

So it would take lessnthan the amount of people in one WoD troll team to have someone blocked? Well, I guess they would stay out of 24 man content then. That is the only benefit from your idea.

Can you really see no downside to this? Or do I need another coffee before I can spot a bad joke?

Also increasing it to ten isnt enough. There are whole fc's who used to run around trolling hunts. Also there are people who run their own bots who would be able to abuse this.

You would have to set the number in the hundreds for this to be even remotely safe.

Solution; false reports disable your ability to file reports.. And mind you, I'm talking about accounts, not just toons.

    Edit:
So you think people would risk disciplinary action against their own accounts rather than actually stopping RMT spam?- I guess the only fault in my idea is faith in people.

Updated OP with a critical concept that people missed, as I didn't make it entirely obvious.

This is un-abusable as the person being 'trolled' would actually have to send a /tell to 10 people who were trolling them.

You really think this still won't be abused because a person won't have enough people to abuse this believe me people who would cluster together it would be abused then the task force would be flooded with false reports and that will take time to sort out as well as take time out of legit players.

How do you prove a false report?

"I seriously thought he was a bot! His movements were strange!"

    "Misclick! Sry! My bad!"

Not tonmention that you would have to set upmsystems for claiming false reports, and by the time it is even able to be reviewed, they have already had a bunch of people blocked, who then, instead of being slightly annoyed by tells, were blocked fromneven playing. But hey, they wont be getting those tells if they can't long in, right?

Please re-read, carefully, the OP as I stated the first time around.. This 'Report as RMT' option is ONLY available on INCOMING TELLS. no /shout, no random chat. Just incoming /TELLs and Friend-Requests.

So it's impossible to click 'Report as RMT' unless the person you're reporting has sent you a tell.

The tell bots sadly aren't going away any time soon lets accept that.

But what we need to do is stop their supply line of Gil in other words their gathering and spirit bond bots this is what needs to be destroyed so we can get some friking quiet.

What we need is an easier and faster way of reporting these things when we see them people don't bother reporting them because they have to submit a large form and type all the info including their gawd d.. Names if we can fast add their names to these forms and if there's a check box for what the said bots are doing and maybe a fast way of giving position on where they are.

This would be the path that needs to be taken to stop rmts.

believe me it would be abused for the dumbest of reasons. Example I joined a persons pf yesterday while getting a tell from another persons in the pt joined was kicked I joined again since I thought it was a mistake barely get a hi out kicked again I sent a tell to the lead asking why no reason is given instead the person threatns to report me to a GM if I joined them again.

So if a person can just threaten this what's to stop them from abuseing this a person I don't even know who I never met or remember.

So you really telling me your tell revived report thing can't get abused huh.
