i love the 7 too but i am also sick of all that people. if you like the 7 play the 7 and don't ask for cloud weapon here, tifa outfit there, nanaki mount (what the hell, nanaki is a PERSON, not a mount...) and crossevent on top of that. have i said sephiroth? whatever...

Final fantasy 8 is perfect where it is in my personal opinion. VI would be kinda cool, i think agnes philosophy might take the FF6 direction and narrative.
