I've heard that upgrading from Steam free trial causes this problem. If so what can I do, because Steam's customer service is basically non existent.

Hello Kotori updating from free trail on steam there is a known issue about this still and they are still trying to solve this issues they ask to be patient and considering
this if you been at this for several hours or day's patients is the biggest since they have the expansion coming out they are focusing on the early release of game along with PSN having issues with not working properly still on game I might suggest submitting a ticket to the following link https://support.na.square-enix.com/c...p?id=5382&la=1 the responce time can be between 24-48 hours
