Unable to login on a specific character after a crash

My game client crashed when I was crossing zones. Now when I try to log back in the specific character my game either crashes or just stays on the Loading screen. I have another character on another server and it works with out any issue.

I submitted a ticket but they told me they couldn't assist me. Any ideas of what I can do to fix this. It seems to be something server side as I can login with my alt and play with no problems on it.

Assuming you are using Windows, try going to your Documents directory (wherever that is) and then navigate to:

My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn

Inside there you should see some folders starting FFXIV_CHR (one for each character you've logged in with). They basically contain your hotbar settings and gearsets so I'm wondering if perhaps they're corrupted for your main character.

If you know which character is what folder that's even better (look at the date/times of the files in the folder to try and work out when you logged out/did things as each), but if not just move all the folders out somewhere else (don't delete or you'll have to redo all your gearsets etc!)

Then try logging in that problem character again and see if it works. If so you know it's corrupted local data and you can either try and work out which file is it (move the files inside the directory back one by one) or just abandon it and start the gearsets/hotbars over. You can safely then move all the other folders back in since they are your other characters and you don't want to delete those gearsets I assume!

Thanks for the advice. I tried removing the folder entirely and starting the game again. Sadly I still have the same issue. Just stuck in the "Now Loading" screen.

The issue seems to be cut scene related. I was on a quest for "Where the Hear Is (Mist)". I had a friend log in for me from her client. She was able to get the cut scene and move me. I am now able to login to my character with no issues.

that is good to hear sometimes I have that issues i have PS3 and PC version i just switch consoles and fix it and then go back to the one I normally like playing on
