    While they haven't given a definite answer to whether or not 2.x content gives you exp past level 50, they have confirmed activating the expansion will immediately raise the level cap.

    "Once you register Heavensward, the level cap will be increased and you can start to earn experience points. You won't have to complete any special quests."

    big patches usually come 3 months between each other, give or take a few days/a week.
    Technically they do give exp, as spiritbind and gear wear are based on exp gain, though SB has content level conditions as well. You just don't see the exp gain, because you are at the cap.

    i saw some interview thingie, where they said it won't give XP, since that would make ppl go back and do that, for easier XP. so they want ppl to go to HW content, to lv up.
    but i'm sure the pre-50 content will give xp, as before. but lv 50 dungeons never had any real XP, since the cap was 50 anyway.
    SB is based on lv difference between gear and mobs. your gear will loose durability by just healing out of combat, so it's not based on XP.
