FFXII has fantastic field music and nice use of instruments, but I didn't find many of his battle music very appealing.

Final Fantasy XII has prolly the worst sountrack I heard on a final fantasy with only Kiss me Goodbye, the main theme, the song you posted and the bgm at Ridorana Pharos really standing out. It's a good sountrack but imo it's not the ost you're gonna remember or buy and listen regularly because it has a lack of "standing out riffs" (dunno how to exactly state it)

the problem with putting music in the background is that you then cant here much in game sound affects. Casting spells etc, pretty much cant here anything, and I do like to here the battle sounds affects when in battle, or in dungeons etc.

Lol agreed. Both XI and XIV has some great tracks and some that aren't that great. While XI has some very memorable tracks (and I don't discredit FFXI's OST in the slightest) I do feel XIV is a tiny bit better, just personal preference though.

One thing I can say about the music is that Nobuo is a super genius. Outside of that, I really don't agree with the usage of electronic instruments in a game with virtually no electricity. It sounds odd. I would think the music should be orchestrated throughout.
