One more thing, I hope the breeding system is not going to be like FFXI. iirc it took half a month to raise a chocobo to adult hood, and the results from it was lack luster because no matter what color they were, they was still slower than rental chocobos, and did nothing special.

I have mixed feelings about this. I really don't want a hundred different gaudy mounts cluttering up every town. But I would like to see some variety.

Also, I dunno how I feel about Chocobo combat. I would have preferred support features over combat. Fighting is already excessively easy.

Have they mentioned anything about riding the chocobos in town yet? Just wondering. I hope they let us personally, and just not let us enter certain areas on chocobo (like the tavern areas). If it's going to be anything like FFXI, I have my doubts they will let us ride in the city period.

The cities are not even that big, I dont see the need to walk the chocobo inside any city. No mounts inside cities please.

Reason? inside cities there are always specific gathering points for players: right outside the Wards, the Guildleve counter, the Repair NPC (This might change with incoming changes in 1.19), etc. The lag this would create once were up to 2k ~ 3.5k players will be horrible. And besides the fact it would break "immersion" xD

I dont think it has to do if WoW does it or not ... ^^;

But it is well known there are other mounts in the Final Fantasy universe besides chocobos. Variety doesnt hurt ^^

We also plan on implementing other mounts in the future, so we will look into chocobo speed in conjunction with the other mounts.

Sure it took some time but my chocobo was a tad faster than the rentals. I understand the half a month thing but thats the nature of mmos some things take time. It wouldnt be raising a chocobo if the damn thing hatched from an egg and two secs later you expect to be blazing through the game riding the poor thing.
