Just heard in game that the relic weapons will be outdone by the expansion weapons. Is this true. I would hate to think that all I did was for nothing. I only have 3 more books to upgrade my relic. But if it's true, then I am stopping this insanity.

Well. Yeah. It's an expansion. It'd be kinda weird if there wasnt a new weapon quest line. Those who finished the relic get some kind of bonus for the next weapon though. No idea what it is.

Other than that, the level 55 weapons I think will be close to fully upgraded relic. The new tome weapons will be quite a bit better than them as well.

Just don't get too emotionally attached to any items. Nothing is the best forever. All lv50 equips are now leveling gear to replace when you reach a higher job level.

It is absolutely true. By the time you're level 60 in the expansion, everything that existed in 2.55 will be obsoleted in terms of power.

They've stated there will be advantages (to speed, not power) to those that completed the ARR relic in the new Heavensward equivalent relic chain. However, if you're still all the way back on Animus, just let it go.

Unless you're super attached to the look of the Zodiac weapons or something.

There was a video showing a primal trial, level 54, with the group in i140 gear. Press got to test play in i170 gear.

So, basically, all gear... relics included, will quickly become obsolete.

As a side note, there is a secondary reason to finish the first couple relic quests (the 2.0 quest line, although Zenith is not necessary): it grants you a title representative of your class. If you want that title, completing that much is pretty easy.

There's always a chance that they will implement further upgrades for Zodiac Weapons in the future or introduce something new that is similar to it. I just wish that they would open it up to give more freedom so that you are not forced to grind specific instances or FATEs to fulfill requirements.
