(for the record, a ninja loot is something that you expect to get for reasons, only for it to be snagged from under you regardless. i try to bring my A game regardless of the content, despite never being rewarded for it.)

That is still not "ninja looting" do you even know the definition of it while spouting nonsense? Just because you rolled a 98 or decided before that x loot is yours does not make it yours, unlkess you went in as a full premade party and rules were set beforehand, then it is a reportable offence if someone agreed, if a random joins who didnt then they arent part of that agreement and do not need to abide by it. Doesn't matter how much "effort" you put in, you are subject to RNG along with everyone else.

It took me over 100 runs ( I know, I kept count for some strange reason:P) clearing Garuda HM back in the day to get PLD sword to help me to clear Titan HM, after about 30-40 runs It dropped, I asked the other PLD if he would mind passing, he didn't, he won, I shrugged and kept trying till I won it. I never felt I was entitled to automatically obtain said weapon, regardless of how many times I had cleared the content or how much effort I had put in. RNG is RNG.

Someone would camp and run in and grab it before you could. It can't even happen in this game. Though your agreement scenario is close. Its just a term entitled players use to slander others who got the loot they wanted.

Exactly this. The agreement prior to starting the content is something that is backed up by SE, and if you break the agreement then it is reportable. There is a GM post verifying that buried within the forums somewhere.

It has also been done where the raid leader sets loot rules to master loot and takes everything.

I'm curious what would have happened if the situation were reversed here. Would you have not rolled had you gotten an in-progress queue only to find they were fighting the boss and then that item you've been trying forever to get drops? Somehow I don't think you would have passed...

Of course he would have. Thats how entitlement works. The logic would have been that hes been working hard in all his other runs or some such. Still funny that we don't even know if any of the current gear in there will work with Machinist, and he is that worked up.

At this point, its just a broad term for people taking loot when it's not theirs or otherwise going against loot rules, like a loot master exploiting it. Could talk the semantics about it, but the context is there.

At this point I just run CT because it's fun. I fully upgraded my evenstar gear through it. No hope on the BLM legs/feet.

The OP says that they are going for gear for Machinist in WOD which I'm assuming it is Bard gear and they are doing so as a healer. My advice would be to play the class that can need the loot. In this case a Bard, otherwise you greatly minimize your chances of getting the drop. The other option is to form a premade with prior loot agreements.

Either way it won't really matter. The gear will be leveling gear and min/maxing the secondaries for leveling is really kind of pointless. Just grab the ironworks piece and save yourself the trouble of pulling your hair out with the WOD runs. It just isn't worth it. If it's for glamor I feel your pain and have been trying to get the tank arms forever and have been out rolled many times. (they only seem to drop when I don't tank.) But even in this case don't let it get you down. It's gear in a game. Just chalk it up as a loss and move on.

Dude all gear pre HW will be junk next patch. Trash tier. Even my BIS bard...means nothing. It's just levelling gear, and as we all know, that means there cen be massive discrepancy of 20 ilvls even when levelling Do I care? no. Just embrace HW, and everything will be ok.

I would tell you to quit. I am not trying to be mean either, if stuff like that gets to you, don't do it. You need to ask yourself..."Am I having fun?" If the answer is no...please stop. I do have a problem with people who complain about others looting. If you are in DF run roll if you can, once you go down the road of trying to decide who deserves to roll, that road leads to unhappiness. People join "in progress runs for fast and easy shots at loot. Is what it is. If you want loot for a certain class, play that class and roll need, anything else is whining.

Tbh, I've found it to be a term that is more abused than the loot system could ever be.
