What is it about paladin...?

In so many topics around here I see people griping about paladin, and yet when someone makes a topic asking if its bad the same people leap to its defense and say its amazing etc etc.

Personally I can see and respect the strength of both tanks, and there are certainly pld mains around here that do too. But even with the expanded moveset they're getting with HW I still see players wanting to stance dance off gcd and wanting stun off gcd. And that flash needs to deal dage like op. Will the general paladin populace not be sated until they are the ultimate tank in all regards and there's 0 point in playing anything else?

Well... read those gripes. Those threads complaining aren't saying paladin isn't a viable tank. Generally they're saying that they find it to be a boring tank. (But it's fine for some people, like me). Not going to go further into it because the topic's been done to death already.

Every class needs its turn at the "oh god this is awful!" brigade. We've had WAR, BLM, DRG, and SMN in the hot seat so far. However, we're finally in a situation where the classes are balanced well enough that one really can't gripe on them because they can't do their role as well as the other guys. Therefore, people have flocked to what people believe is the most boring class in the game to play: Paladin.

I think the true reason for this though is that people are getting antsy with Heavensward so close. The complaining genes are running strong in these forums, and it isn't just about Pallies.

I think for the most part people that main PLD (myself) find no issues and are quite content with it, if I found it boring I wouldn't be playing it. I think the people who jump over to it to "try" it out are the most vocal about as they are going to compare it to what they are use to, which is entirely different.

As someone who plays monk as their main dps which is an insanely "active" job in terms of doing something, I find no issues with my pally.

Actually, there was a thread started by someone claiming paladins can't tank. It was met with a chorus of unanimous opinion that it was simply the OP who couldn't tank.

Well, because it WAS the OP that couldn't tank... The many many paladin tanks that exist and function just fine was proof enough of that.
