So I guess I just spent money on nothing

I got the core game via Steam and just decided to get Heavensward via the Square Enix store to avoid giving Steam anymore money after that paid mods crap they tried pulling earlier.

Process was convoluted and poorly thought out and then I got to the part where I can redeem a 20 digit code on Mogstation. Nothing is clear about exactly what this key is; I don't know if it's the key for Heavensward and the bonus items or if it's just the bonus items and I have to wait to unlock a separate key when early access becomes available.

Oh, and it doesn't redeem either. It's invalid every time I try. So then I look up a bunch of stuff. I see that there's not many keys and that Square will email a new one, I see that EU keys are being distributed and you have to wait for a new one, and I see vague information about Steam/non-Steam links. So, which is it? Is Square distributing bad keys or am I just screwed now and I cannot redeem this unless I pay double to get HS on steam even though there was absolutely no warning about how the account works?

If it's the latter, I will not buy it again. There was no warning at all anywhere and information I have found is too vague.

EDIT: A previous window I encountered explaining maintenance in multiple languages has popped up in Mogstation now. I don't know why Mogstation hasn't re-directed me to it before, but it does now. Previously, I saw this from a link in a tutorial from reddit. I guess I'll wait until maintenance ends for now and then see if the code will validate.

EDIT2: Now it doesn't redirect to a maintenance notice. Guess the site is just broken/horribly coded. Ignore previous edit.
