That aside, drawing parallels to the only other MMO in the franchise is natural. It was also hugely successful, so obviously it did plenty of things right (unlike FFXIV 1.0). There's no shame in repeating a formula if it makes for a fun experience overall.

To be fair, it was only so successful because of the time period it came out in. The large majority of things it did would never fly nowadays.
