I would disagree, i kind of feel FFXIV is the other extreme. World of Warcraft has the most interesting transition because it's not even a different game. It's the same dam game that went from challenging/time consuming to so "accessible" people are leaving en masse shortly after each expansion.
I'm all about new jobs, but truthfully 3 jobs for an expansion is already a pretty good amount. I'm not really expecting any new jobs during Heavensward. But i would totally love a berserker/beastmaster!! It's gotta use one-handed axes though!

Even in non tactics, in FFX-2 you can use a pet animal with the trainer job
I look forward to this. I didn't get to play much of XI but I'm presuming it worked a lot like Rangers/Hunters work in most MMO's? Going out and taming various animals and monsters and building a collection of pets, loved these classes in MMO's! I know we might not get it anytime soon but its nice to think about that we might get something like this down the line.

Not at all. First of all, in WoW, even as beastmaster spec, the hunter did a lot of the DPS. In FFXI, the beastmaster did some dps, usually with dual axes, sometimes swords or scythes, but the pet was the majority of the damage. You didn't have pets like the hunter did, either, that were permanently your own. You could use a skill called charm on nearly any "beast" type mob (basically, animals) in the field, and then use it to fight with. It used all its attacks, and it was the same strength as the mob was normally. You could also use "jugs" to lure in a familiar for a while. These were useful for a lot of things, but they weren't as strong as tamed pets. Charm wears off with time, and when it does so, the mob attacks you. It was an amazing solo class, and very interesting to play.

i can see puppeteer working since the dolls are already in the game
Beastmaster would certainly be interesting, however I don't foresee it being something that would bring a bunch of raid utility along with it. So, that might be an issue. Maybe if they take the Game Hunter route. I'd rather see something like Geomancer or Oracle make the cut though just for some different flavor in the franchise.

The lack of a monster/elemental wheel sorta kills much of the old potential.
But I suppose they could make it a pet class. With a shape shifting companion that can become a miniature mimic the whatever monster you tell it to copy.
This is actually a great idea in my opinion. It also fits well into the current style of FF14. Your basically given a Mimic as a pet, which can in turn become any monster you manage to tame/mimic with it. Also for the first guy who immediately trash talked my suggestion, I have in fact never even played FF11. I have always just had a great love for tamer classes in FF, and I simply seen they had one in 11 and figured beast master was the most appropriate name.
I want to have a beastmaster, but only if it more works more like a real pet class and not like how Summoner is at the moment. The focus of the class should be more on the pet and the ability for the pet and master to work in sync.
