FFXI..is that way...->
Once again, no one wants to play FFXI anymore but all of you want the game to be just like it.
He didn't say make it identical... geez.
Beastmaster has been seen in other FF Titles, it's decently popular.
Also... generalized/stereotyping blanket statement, much?

Even in non tactics, in FFX-2 you can use a pet animal with the trainer job
By that logic, it's already FFXI because there are the same jobs in this game as the last one.
Oh, you mean there is a way to add in classes that have updated mechanics for the new game?
Who would have thought.
I also like the "no one wants to play FFXI anymore" quote. FFXI is still turning a profit, so that's obviously not true. In fact, FFXI is the most profitable final fantasy game in history. It's also in the highest grossing video games in history, at well over a billion USD. Seems you're wrong on all points!
But, you know, the most successful game in the franchise OBVIOUSLY did things wrong, right? So.. Duh, guys! Beastmaster shouldn't exist!

I look forward to this. I didn't get to play much of XI but I'm presuming it worked a lot like Rangers/Hunters work in most MMO's? Going out and taming various animals and monsters and building a collection of pets, loved these classes in MMO's! I know we might not get it anytime soon but its nice to think about that we might get something like this down the line.![]()
Not at all. First of all, in WoW, even as beastmaster spec, the hunter did a lot of the DPS. In FFXI, the beastmaster did some dps, usually with dual axes, sometimes swords or scythes, but the pet was the majority of the damage. You didn't have pets like the hunter did, either, that were permanently your own. You could use a skill called charm on nearly any "beast" type mob (basically, animals) in the field, and then use it to fight with. It used all its attacks, and it was the same strength as the mob was normally. You could also use "jugs" to lure in a familiar for a while. These were useful for a lot of things, but they weren't as strong as tamed pets. Charm wears off with time, and when it does so, the mob attacks you. It was an amazing solo class, and very interesting to play.

i can see puppeteer working since the dolls are already in the game
Beastmaster would certainly be interesting, however I don't foresee it being something that would bring a bunch of raid utility along with it. So, that might be an issue. Maybe if they take the Game Hunter route. I'd rather see something like Geomancer or Oracle make the cut though just for some different flavor in the franchise.
