If SE is planning on negating content that fast they better pump it out quicker then every 3 months is my only fear.
If SE cannot keep up with the extreme hardcore or have content that is not negated every 3 months you will have the wow effect where a large portion of thier playerbase no longer logs on until the next patch. (and hardcore having to wait for more content is not the norm it is bad development)
If they are making alot of gear obsolete every 3 months it is going to end up coming back to haunt them, This is easily the worst part of western mmos..... makes it much less meaningful. Unless to truly get the best of the best gear you have to do the old content first.
Square needs to get a min of 40hrs of endgame into this game at 1 time before even thinking of negating things. And that is 40hrs of endgame that has valid gear (not negated content) atm square has about 4hrs worth of content (1 dungeon and world nms, factions have been negated already....) Without at least that much the endgame simply will not be big enough to keep everyone playing between updates.
Was one of the best features of XI... there was so much endgame it would take the average person over month to do 1 attempt at everything, and they kept piling more and more on it until abysea negated the whole game that is. That should be something this game strives for as well. New content every 3 months is a great thing.... but you need to keep old content relevant, especially until there is enough endgame to satisfy everyone.
