Nobody is gonna do a content with no reward, perfect example is Hydra in FFXI, the novelty wears after killing it the first time, why create content that only lasts that short? waste of devs time.

Then why would anyone do story quests, or quests at all? "You only do them once, derp". Of COURSE you only do them once. Make them only DO-ABLE once! Why does ALL content have to be 'rinse and repeat'??
Welcome to MMORPGs. This is what they are. A lot of people like it this way, judging from the revenue they pull in.
Let's ask ourselves some questions:
Are we all going to be level 50 forever?
Is the content we currently consider "endgame" *really* the endgame?
Based on those answers, is your current gear going to be "endgame" gear forever?
Bear in mind THIS GAME IS UNFINISHED.

that's the beauty of MMOs endgame is only endgame for so long. So yes right now I feel we have an endgame point but that point will change come level cap increase.

This argument only holds water if they AREN'T dumbing down all content after 3 months and if they were raising the level cap every 3 months. But last I checked, that's not what they're doing. Sounds to me like we'll end up with a crap ton of lvl35 raids that attain you crap tons of lvl50 gear (not even worth getting due to all the BETTER 50 gear introduced in the latest raid), and come a new level cap, one set of raids that stay at 50 for 50 gear. And then we'll repeat.

LOL
I think it's funny that gear being made easier to obtain after a set period of time is immediately interpreted as said gear becoming obsolete. Would you rather continue running the same dungeon for difficult to obtain gear for a solid year, or have nothing to do for a solid year once you poopsock your way to that gear in a week? They're talking about adding new things to do every three months, and making the old things easier to do once the new content comes out. How is this bad? I just don't get people on this forum lol.

if by easier it was an adjustment to the time limit on DH i would say sure, because the time limit encourages speed runs which promote an unhealthy game environment by so many people being excluded by not having the ideal class.LOL

However, i dont think they should adjust the difficulty of the mobs or bosses at all, they already offer a decent challenge but are from imposable.

If SE is planning on negating content that fast they better pump it out quicker then every 3 months is my only fear.
If SE cannot keep up with the extreme hardcore or have content that is not negated every 3 months you will have the wow effect where a large portion of thier playerbase no longer logs on until the next patch. (and hardcore having to wait for more content is not the norm it is bad development)
If they are making alot of gear obsolete every 3 months it is going to end up coming back to haunt them, This is easily the worst part of western mmos..... makes it much less meaningful. Unless to truly get the best of the best gear you have to do the old content first.
Square needs to get a min of 40hrs of endgame into this game at 1 time before even thinking of negating things. And that is 40hrs of endgame that has valid gear (not negated content) atm square has about 4hrs worth of content (1 dungeon and world nms, factions have been negated already....) Without at least that much the endgame simply will not be big enough to keep everyone playing between updates.
Was one of the best features of XI... there was so much endgame it would take the average person over month to do 1 attempt at everything, and they kept piling more and more on it until abysea negated the whole game that is. That should be something this game strives for as well. New content every 3 months is a great thing.... but you need to keep old content relevant, especially until there is enough endgame to satisfy everyone.

Honestly, I feel like we're giving SE too much credit. I seriously doubt they would release a lot of new/better end game gear every 3 months. :P Maybe a couple new pieces every 2-3 months, but nothing like a complete new gear set (aka WoW).
I just don't want what happened in FFXI to happen in FFXIV. We should NOT be trying to get the same gear for like 4-5 years, lol. XD
