    Archer/Bard arrows

    Hello,

I apologize in advance if this has been asked before, i've tried search in both forums and Google but did not find any answers.

I don't actually see my bard's arrows flying through the air. It's basically an animation for an attack, and then a corresponding explosion on the mob side, but there are no visual arrows that fly through the air en route to the enemy. Is this by design?

If so - it's a bit disappointing. I mean all casters have a visual animation of an orb/projectile travelling to the enemy, which adds to the "punch" that you deliver. This way all i see is my character constipating and then a disappointing boom on the other side with nothing in between.

I'm hoping i'm not the only one bummed about this, since i really want to play a bard for the utility it brings to the group.

In case this is not by design and my graphics settings are wrong, please do tell

I don't think you should pay too much attention to see how an arrow travels all the way to the enemy, besides, it would kinda be slightly unrealistic if you see an arrow start homing around a moving target.

WoW is yet again a perfect example. You can see the arrow and bullets flying across and homing to the body of the target as if they were heat seeking missles. The worst thing is its kinda even more unrealistic at the speed they travel. So the fact that you can't "see" the arrows traveling from your bow to the enemy in FFXIV is more realistic.

Have you seen an arrow shot at high speed? It's pretty much very difficult to follow.

Arc/Brd attacks are instant. They'd have to add animation delays in order to show the arrow's flight, and make it slow-motion enough to be visible.

And an arrow fired in real life at relatively close range (like all arrows in-game are) is near enough to instant that you don't really see it flying. It looks more as though the arrow thumps into the target at the moment you release the bowstring. It's only when the target is distant enough that you need a pronounced loft in its trajectory that the arrow will slow down enough you can watch it fly through the air.
