Quick question in regards to Heavensward and Fantasia (First time post)

I do hope that this is the right section to post this question to. Anyway as I got the early access for Heavensward and my fantasia back from when I played for a month, can I use said item on myself on the early access to switch to the new race or do I have to wait till the 23rd to do just that. My FC said I could but I want a 2nd opinion to be sure, just don't want to waste my fantasia (even though I am getting one from the CE Heavensward, plus I know I can always buy more from Mog station). Thank you in advance to anyone that wants to answer this paranoid player.

From what I remember when I used my fantasia (and I have a pretty terrible memory), using it gives you the ability to re-create your character from the log-in screen. You hit a thing next to your character name in the character list instead of logging in, and you do it while not logged into your server. The ability to do it remains until you make a change and finalize the character, kinda like playing around at the aesthetician but then deciding not to actually make a change doesn't eat up an aesthetician voucher. You can use the item now and not actually make the change for three months if you want and the option will remain.

Also, you can't even do it unless you log out naked (excluding your weapon). That lets them not have to worry about race/sex specific gear. However, you are still capable of logging off (or getting DCed) while not naked. So, using your fantasia early is not a problem at all.

What I would do is, when Early Access opens, try to create a new character (on another server if you have to) that's an Au ra. If it lets you create the character, make the character look just like you want yours to look. Save the appearance data. Go into the game and make sure you like it. Then, go edit your character, loading the appearance data you saved. If you can't create a new character that's an Au ra, then there's no reason to try to edit your character to be one.

You can also play with character creation on the benchmark. That saves to your hard drive, so when the client is updated the benchmark stuff will be available. It's my preferred method as it lets me get exactly the look I want so I don't have to worry about it later.

Also, the new race should be available for early access yes.

Lol should have mentioned I already had the benchmark data for the Au Ra, and that despite me never using it I saw videos on how it worked. Anyway thank you both, Nyalia and Kytrin for answering my question.

When early access starts,does the character creation know where to point to, to grab the appearance data from the benchmark? I remember this being an issue when 2.0 was released

They have confirmed that Au Ra are available starting on the 19th. It's also been verified that any Au Ra designs you make on the Benchmark can be used in the real game. So, you shouldn't have any problem making the switch next Friday.
