RMT Gil Spammers are OUT OF CONTROL

Telemarketers, honestly. They've been around for decades. And instead of dying out they've moved to text harassing and pushing legislators in the US to allow them to call cell numbers. I really wouldn't be surprised if some of the initial gil sellers back in the day got the idea from a company that used telemarketing.

Allowed or not, they've called my cell a few times.

Never gotten text messages. Filing legal complaints after refusing to cease when asked to keeps them to a minimum though.

I'm surprised that all you guys on JP servers think it's the virtue of the Japanese people that's stopping Gil sellers from appearing in force there. Actually no, I really shouldn't be. Of course you guys think it's the power of glorious nippon.

It's population. On Balmung, I don't get tells like... at all. Why? Cause bots can't get in. The character creation restrictions mean that creation of throwaway bots for advertising is much much harder, so you don't get that much spam. You'll see swarms of bots appear after maintenance, cause that's when pop is the lowest and they can get some new (computer non-)blood in.
This game is weird that way, the more popular your server is the harder it is to get bots onto it. Now where's there a lot of population playing this game?

It was already very clear to me that due to the jp population not getting spam, they do not care enough to really "fix" the problem, we get these these "blah blah has been banned for rmt activites" and while reading those 1000 more bots were created to continue where the banned ones were left off. i just gave up and recently moved to a jp server. (and due to the none existent endgame on my previous server) they aren't going to fix this, you'll keep getting spammed, all day, everyday, untill you perma busy status or move to a jp data center,

Other MMOs have squashed this problem out for the most part, it's very strange that SE "somehow" is still having problems, so something else is going on, i personally cannot stand rmt spam, because nothing will ever make me weak minded enough to buy gill. so i do not want to be bombared all day every day about buying it.

So if you're tired of it, learn jp and move to them or find a english oriented jp server. It's your only hope to get away from spam. Reporting, black listing, does very little to nothing.

And just so you know, jps DO buy gill, and other people also buy gill on jp servers, you just don't get spam, Why else do you think bots are still on these servers? they certainly aren''t playing to enjoy the game, it's a job to them.

As ever, until SE starts having GM's patrolling the actual servers and instantly banning every RMT on the spot, it won't ever stop. For now, it's /busy all day every day.

Can you explain how they have? Maybe it's because they are as popular or profitable that RMT doesn't deal with them, ever consider that the popularity of the game dictates how much RMT will involve themselves in said game?

I never get tells. There's lots of bots, but no tells. Very few advertisements in chat.

This has to be a per-server problem. I haven't seen any gil-spam since HW released.

I'm on Gilgamesh, the most I get is like 3-4 per day and I just....ignore it.

Wow, yeah, if I received less than half a dozen /tells a day, I wouldn't be complaining. That's funny. You have no idea, I suppose. Maybe I need to switch servers. That would honestly be worth the transfer fee. I honestly received about 30 /tells today about it. I've received about 20 to 30 tells every day this week. I clean out my blacklist every other week. I play on Brynhildr, and I think Bryn is known for bad players, so that might be a factor.

On Ultros, it's a lot more than just one line.....each message takes up 6+ lines of my chat log and I can receive 8 tells from different names within minutes. The average is probably 15 in an hour, no matter what time of the day. Just because the situation isn't bad on your server, doesn't mean it isn't a problem.
And it is affecting me when they spam their garbage while I'm in a linkshell conversation.

Agreed! These RMT buttholes put line breaks in their messages to make them erase the rest of the chat window. It's horrible. I would indeed probably get ~8 an hour if I wasn't in instances for half that time. I probably only get about one spam every 10 minutes or so, on average - which I think is still really bad.
