    The Emperor's New Hat?

    While browsing through the Eorzea Database looking for something else, I happened to notice it mentions The Emperor's New Hat as one of the items Tataroga sells. I'm familiar with The Emperor's New ... set. It's what allows you to glamour a piece of gear to look like it's not there, so you look as though that slot were unequipped. But why in the world would anyone want a glamour item just to hide a piece of gear that we can already hide any time we want just by toggling off it's display mode? All the other pieces in this Emperor's New set make sense. The hat doesn't.

    (This has probably been around for ages and everyone else who thought it was odd already talked about it. I just happened to notice it today.)

    For the retainer. You can't hide the retainer's hat.

    I've given my retainer glamoured equipment before and the glamour was dispelled in the process so... I don't know what, exactly, this particular item is really for.

    only time that that has happened to me was when I gave my retainer a piece of gear that was "GLA/PLD/MRD/WAR" but glamoured to a warrior only look (retainer was a paladin)

    GC items can't be seen on retainer glamours too.

    also gender locked gear if you're not the same as your retainer.
