Thread: Starting a Lore Project in 3.0

So, I'm going to be starting a new playthrough in 3.0. The original purpose of the playthrough is to establish just how long it will take new players to get through the 2.55 storyline and into HW, while recording every moment of playtime. Part of the plan is to level a tank so that I don't have to wait in queues, but since that would skew the numbers downward compared to a DPS queue, I figured I would fill some time by running around talking to NPCs between the quests.

That's where the lore aspect comes in. I know that the Scions in particular have some small talk options that are easily missed lore nuggets, and I assume the same is true of other NPCs. I also know that xivdb is missing fair chunks of dialogue even within the story quests, much less the small talk options. While I'll try to remember to collect all the information I can, I figured I would make a post here so people can chime in with NPCs and places to check that I might not have thought of. If anyone knows of missable dialogue, I can go record it so that we have record of it, even if that record is in video format that doesn't necessarily lend itself to easy searching. >_>

Do note, though, that this will likely be slow going, as my first priority when HW hits will be getting this character up to 60 and prepared for when Alexander hits, as well as leveling AST with a friend.

we've learned our lessons by not screencapping easily missed messages with NPCs who are temporarily there (i.e. dead Scions in Waking Sands, Thancred hijinks) ; this time some of us will try our damnest to cap every bit of conversation we come across!

I agree, it was only after I was past Titan that I realized their dialogue was changing every quest, and I should respeak to them. I regret all the lore and characterization I must have missed!

I got a load of screenshots I saved about funny or important or just awesome moments. I knew about Thancred being evil so I made pics of his new medalion he gets after Ifrit. Another thing to look out for are the ways people acknowledge your past accomplishments. Dialogue changes during the debriefing with the Maelstrom after Titan if you are a member, Estinien acknowledges you beating him, Thubyrgeim recognises you as a past student when you check up on Tataru. I'm itching to learn what Yugiri says if you welcome her in Vesper Bay as an Au Ra. Especially an Au Ra ninja.
