I can confirm this. My main box is Linux; my Windows box is a games machine. I had to use it and Internet Explorer to get it to accept my code. (My subscription is not Steam, BTW). Incidentally, thanks for figuring this out--I was stumped until I read your post.I had the same issue but I resolved it. It appears that whoever coded the front end for the validation site didn't bother to test their javascript code in anything other than Internet Explorer.
Validation failed for me in both Firefox and Chrome. It works perfectly fine in IE v11.0.9600.17801

I run through Steam, when i bought the Steam version i uninstalled the regular windows version, so i run it solely through Steam now. I just want to be able to make sure i'm able to play in early access when i get home from work Friday.
When you look on the mog station does it show you as having a steam account?

No, just Win and PS4. Unless there is somewhere different i'm supposed to redeem my Steam key, i dont know why it wont at least let me link the CD key i have from Steam for ARR, and then activate my preorder key for HW.
I'm going to probably be checking with SE on Monday via their online chat to try and figure it out, if someone here cant help me figure it out sooner.
I pre-ordered mine from SE Australia and have received the code, however when entering into Mogstation, I tried entering at "Enter Item Code" and said it's been used. I do however have "FFXIV: Heavensward - Early Access Windows(R)" and I have "FFXIV: Heavensward - Pre-order Bonus Items" listed in "View additional items". Does that mean the code is entered successfully?
*confused*

just received the reply from SE EU supportDear Customer,
Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.
In response to your recent contact regarding the purchase of the wrong version of FFXIV,
Please note that your purchase has been refunded to your original method of payment. You can now purchase the correct version of the expansion for your game.
If you have any other queries, please contact us again. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Kind regards,
The Square Enix Support Centre team
Yeah, turns out since i'm legacy, i should never have even bought ARR on Steam, as i cant have 2 Windows versions of the game registered, so i had to cancel my preorder on Steam and purchase the digital PC version (on Amazon) and i just hope i get my preorder code before early access starts.
I think i'll still be able to use the Steam launcher, as I dont think it is any different from the normal windows one, but it isnt directly linked to Steam. I just wish i would have known that when i spent $30 or $40 on ARR back in 2014 on Steam.
I am also running into the issue of invalid code, I even tried IE and it still says invalid code. Any other insight would be welcome.
I finally managed to get it to work (I think), the Big RED "Enter the Registration Code for the Expansion" was to blame had to use the add a code option and get it through a more circular route. Anyone know when we will get the actual license for Heavensward? Since my mog station is not showing a O for the expansion yet, but the account type says "Standard FFXIV: Heavensward - Early Access Windows(R)"
