Code is Invalid?

I tried entering in my pre-order code, but received a code is invalid message. After spending some time reviewing the pre-order FAQ, I realized that I purchased the game via Steam but purchased the pre-order via the Square Enix website. The two seem to be incompatible, which doesn't really make sense to me, but that's the way it is.

What should I do to resolve this situation?

re-buy the client from SE store ? I assume SE already charge you money for the pre-order code

I seen somewhere that if you play on steam you have to get the exspantion from steam only.

Get a refund from Squenix Store, buy from Steam
And READ the product description and announcements.

Steam wants their cut of course so they are forcing people to buy the expansion from Steam if they already have purchased ARR from steam. Its business.
And they did warn people not to buy from other places and wait for the Steam pre-order if they were linked to steam already.

Thanks all for the responses. I contacted Square Enix's customer service and they cancelled my purchase. They were very helpful.

I really believe there should be some indication on the Heavensward page that Steam purchasers should only purchase from Steam. It's a bit misleading.

Glad you got it figured out! Honestly I think it should be account based, not client based for your game purchase. Not sure why they went the route they did but this is the hand we have been dealt. Good luck and see you in Heavensward!
