GTX 980 / GTX 760 .. DX9 vs DX11 score on Heavensward Benchmark problem

Hi.. I have a GTX 980 and I did the benchmark on DX11 and DX9.. the weird thing is that the score is lower on DX9.. but when I did the Benchmark with my old GTX 760 I got a much more high score on DX9 compared to my result on DX9 also but using my GTX 980. I also see only 3Gb memory on the 980 when the card has 4GB.

In theory on Dx9 I should have a much better performance using my GTX 980 compared to my old GTX 760.. but I get like 3k points lower score on the 980


Any ideas why this is happening?

Not exactly understanding what the problem here is. You are getting a higher benchmark score on DX11. There is no problem. It doesn't matter if you got a higher score differentiation between 2 different cards, because they are simply 2 totally different cards. If they were both the exact same card and you got a score difference of 3,000 then I would be suspicious. Please clarify your question if I am misunderstanding what the problem seems to be.

Your card displaying only 3gb memory is normal. By default Precision and Afterburner limit the GPU memory to 3072MB. So since you have a 4gb card you would need to go into the options menu and increase that default value to match that of your graphics card.

I also just noticed that your DX9 test says "custom full screen" and the DX11 says "maximum full screen". I haven't taken note of that change in any of my results so just wanted to point that out in case that changes your results. For example make sure the DX9 test wasn't on "windowed full screen"

Both of your screenshots show that you ran the test using the GTX980. DX9 = 11729 | DX11 = 12046.
So you got an improved score of +317 on DX11.

But again, I would double check your full screen settings.

There is no Maximum preset for DX9.. is Maxed Out and with Fullscreen.. it says Custom because the DX11 features are disables I guess

I have both cards.. GTX 980 and GTX 760.. I tried both cards on the same computer using DX9.. same settings.. I got 3k more points with the 760

Run a DX9 and DX11 benchmark using your GTX 760 and post screenshots like you did with the 980.

I'm not swaping cards again just to show the bench.. but the game on DX9 was running better with my older card.. I believe is normal that I expect to get a much better score with the 980

For example.. with the 760 I did the Bench on Dx9 and Dx11.. I had a 3k difference in score with the same config on the bench.. with the 980 I almost have no difference between DX9 and DX11
