I can understand the frustration of having a person using macros to call the attacks. It's just silly and not needed, if its a RP Server, I understand and its fine, but for me I don't like it especially if it adds nothing of use like the healer calling out a raise (to avoid other healers or summoners wasting mp to raise) or tanks swapping, but just doing it for flavor irritates me to no end, however I usually ignore it and keep my mouth shut, but if other people decided to kick ya....well im voting yes too. xD

I'd like to point out this edit the OP made. Props to him for finding a good solution that makes everybody happy. It's nice to see people try and compromise rather than throw tantrums like so many do.

Whose to say the party got that bad in the first place because the manyu adds didn't die fast enough and chunked everyone with x2 evil eye?

Or are you going to tell me that an arcanist (who lacks 30 intellgence and fester) using a topaz will pull anywhere near the damage capability as a summoner? That extra dps could've been clutch in getting those last few hourglasses down or killing the adds before evil eyes.

As far as macros with res/virus is concerned, it's pretty important to make those calls so you don't overlap something. You can't see your party's targets without having to directly target them, and virus is extremely important in some circumstances that it needs to be called out to ensure no confusion/wasted cooldowns.

In the end though, OP did find a compromise to avoid things like this in the future, so props to him. In the end, you need to make sure there's an understanding between both parties. Don't push the envelope when people ask you the first time around, and certainly don't victimize/act surprised when they finally do retaliate.

The same way you got the right to RP, they also have the right to kick you if whole party agrees and your playstyles aren't compatible. Macros annoy and/or distract some people, though in 4 players content it wouldn't hurt imo, there's not much going on. It is actually better leaving (or in this case, kicked) a party that doesn't suit your playstyle and look for a better one.
Glad someone mentioned the "I don't respond" part. As annoying as I personally find rp macros, I'm not gonna kick someone over it. But if I ask someone to stop doing something that's annoying me, and they not only keep doing it, but completely ignore me? That's a kick (or at least a passive aggressive insult).

Ignoring people is one of those insults that transcends time and culture; everyone everywhere is offended by having their opinions blown off like that.

When did this thread become yet another war about if people should use macros or... actually, don't answer that. I'll just chalk this up as another unpleasable fanbase moment that can't reach a middle ground on this subject. Where's my popcorn? This could be awhile.

    ... ah. Splendid.

As a tank I tend to pay attention to party chat, it's usually one of the party members communicating something to me. So if I see party macros going off every time someone uses an ability I tend to get a bit annoyed myself. Like it's been mentioned, use echo if you really want to have chat macros.

Unlike FFXI there is very little reason to let your party know about what your doing with the exception of a few key things like stuns or Trick attack.

I like the OP's compromise to use /echo so he can continue enjoying them while remaining mindful that others may find them spammy.

I suppose. I've seen worse thinking about it. Perhaps "war" isn't the word I should be using this time around. (Habit, considering most other threads I've seen not just here but at other forums too)

I already saw that earlier post too and liked the compromise as well.
