Dude, you do you and if you want to role play you do it till your hearts content. people are to damn sensitive now a days, if they are "annoyed" with your macros then ignore it and move, and if they kick you that's against TOS, you pay monthly for the game.

I have friends who do these RP macros. They're kind of embarrassing to party with in DF runs and all, but it's not too bad unless it's a very commonly used skill. In fact, for some things like Berserk, Raise, and limit breaks, it's possibly even helpful. But, those common ones...

Please don't macro text about how you marked a target and you should attack it to your marking macro if you're a tank. I will know what to attack by the number above it's head without you shouting sound effects and "helpful" text in my face every 7 seconds. Please don't talk about how you're The Mothercrystal's Shining Shield of Justice every time you use Flash, or I will want to punch you in the fathercrystals.

That's nothing. I was running WoD once and got a really bad group. We very nearly wiped during the Ahriman fight, and the only reason we didn't is because I had to spend most of the fight reviving our healers and tanks, (across the entire alliance), rather than DPSing. We managed to make it through the fight in the end though without wiping, (somehow). And less than a second after, I got kicked. Why? (As I found out from a friend of mine I had went in with who didn't get kicked, thank you Linkshells.) Because I didn't get all of the hourglasses killed at one point when there were only about 5 DPS up across the entire Alliance. No one got killed by the hourglasses, and I managed to swiftcast revive one of the healers in my party right before the countdown on the hourglasses ran out. This was the only time I've legitimately rage quit a game, as I logged out for a few hours after I had been told why I was kicked.......

EDIT: Not really on topic that much, I know. I just felt like venting a bit......

EDIT2: On topic, the only text macros I use are for Resurrection, (mine is literally just "Reviving <t>"), and Convalescence. And I only ever use Convalescence if I'm below half health, and the macro on it is basically just saying that if anyone is free to heal me, any heals on me are boosted temporarily. I'm thinking about shortening my Convalescence one though, as sometimes I have to hit the button twice due to it not activating the skill properly sometimes, yet still displaying the text. I really wish there was a check in place, (in the form of a simple "did previous action activate" Yes/No with a different path for each), that would keep text from activating unless the skill itself activates first. It would cut down on a lot of accidental macro spam. I've seen more than a few people who accidentally press a button and even though the skill doesn't activate, the text pops up. It's pretty common with revive macros in particular it seems......

So I never been kicked before in FF14 .....so I Rp with my character and for one move I use macro to say an attack. The tank gets mad and says i need to turn it off and "saying this isn't naruto." I don't respond im playing the dungeon fine...and then i get kicked. and before I get kicked he says "something party kick no jutsu."

So I report him b/c I think for the most party the ff14 is great and don't want want people like him ruining this community esp. with the exp around the corner. I send him a tell telling that i reported him and that people should play they want to play. Its a fantasy game for godsake.

The only "chat" macros you should have are ones that other players need to pay attention to. Mainly Raise/Resurrect, and Virus. because otherwise those casts are wasted if someone else does it. DPS have generally no reason to do this.

If you're going to continue using a macro regardless of when people ask you to stop, you're more or less doing it just to spite them. Combine that with a bad temperament or a sour mood (and I drift into this occasionally), something's going to give.

There has to be more behind this reasoning, otherwise everyone else would've gotten kicked. I mean I remember you wanting to play as arcanist with a topaz carlbuncle. You could've been the outler on overall damage output that you did even less than the people that were dead.

I'd tend to agree. There's no reason to have a macro announcing you're using Dragonfire Dive any more than there's a reason for a BLM to announce that they're using Flare. There hasn't even really been a use for a Blunt Arrow/Spirits Within macro since the days of High Voltage being an actual big deal in T1 and T2. Extraneous text in the chat box is distracting.

@OP - I understand that you enjoy RP, but you should similarly understand that not everyone does. :3

I am never bothered when people use rp macros. Some of them are very interesting. The only time macros are annoying is if someone has a sound attached to them and spamming it quite frequent, which was not the case here.

Glad you reported him. I can't stand people like that that abuse kick for something entirely harmless.

Reminds me of this one party I was in where the other dps made a comment about a tank new to Ifrit that wasn't positioning Ifrit properly, and said "Must be a brony." as though he thought the rest of the party was going to agree with him and find him funny. People like that tarnish the community. I was POd, and not because I'm an adult female that likes My Little Pony, but because bullying is uncalled for and there is nothing wrong with what someone likes if it isn't hurting others, and the tank never said anything about liking MLP so that dps was essentially saying bronies are mentally incompetent. I wanted to say something to that other dps, but since I'm on PS4 with no keyboard yet, typing is too slow so I didn't bother. Sure, the tank never asked for help with it, but still the bullying is uncalled for on so many levels.
