The relic weapon will forever be a stat stick, chances are you won't get effects but im all for the idea. Also if it did get these effects raiders will complain that relic weapon is better than their raid weapon![]()

They did say that they were looking into adding unique effects for gear in the future...they just wanted the 2.0 stuff to be just stat based as a good starting ground.
DRG relics
: 5% chances to double damage from JUMP
50% chances to die instantly when using JUMP
Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind effects that are representative of the kind of content that is required to get it.
For example, raid drop shield could improve on survivability against large hits like "clear Convalescence cooldown after taking a single hit that is greater than 30% of your maximum life"; while relics that require farming open world and light party content could have effects that improve trash handling, like "double the enmity of Flash on targets that are blinded".
Although it seems that currently (and for 3.1) the relic is positioned as just a weapon that has adjustable secondary stats.

Do I really have to spell something so obvious? No its not a good idea cuz it would completely ruin the balance of the game. I seriously doubt SE is gonna do something like this until they find a way to do it without completely ruining the balance, something that is really really hard to do.
Don't get me wrong, OP or gimmick weapons are fun as heck. The Kraken Club and weapons/equipments like it in FFXI were crazy fun but they ruined job balance, fight balance, PvP balance (yes there is PvP in that game), everything balance. And this is considering the way FFXI was designed, these imbalances weren't THAT much of a deal, but in a game in FFXIV? Just no.
Oh right, games like WoW did have some weapons that minor effects but these effects were so minor that they might as well not be there. What WoW did do that did kinda address the issue of balance is that they made end-game content drop multiple equipments of the same ilv but with different and powerful effects. Even then though, you still had many cases of people using lower ilv equipments due to their effect and of super high-end weapons ruining game balance, like Shadowmourne.

well actually they got fire 2 instead of fira etc cause they thought the names would confuse people that are new to the seriesThat's not the reason why this wouldn't happen.
They've said it ages ago, they don't want to over complicate the game for the audience they're trying to attract. I believe that's also why BLMs skill aren't named all fancy and, instead.. just got called Fire, Fire II, etc.
and if they are still invested in this relic weapon why are they having a completly different relic in HW
