Probably because if they bought gil, and didn't tell you... but gave you gil for any reason because your friends but then you lose it or get suspended both of you? Even if you did nothing wrong? Yeah thats why I'd care. I don't want to lose my work or get suspended over what someone else did.

So many people talking about the morality of gil buying here...which while yes, that's the setting of this issue, the real issue is this:

OP is no longer comfortable hanging out with their friend. Doesn't matter if it's online or offline, they're uncomfortable. To the point where doing so makes them uneasy enough to ask for advice from the community. Those who have suggested you talk to the friend first give sound advice: talk it out. Explain why you're no longer comfortable playing with them. If they completely disregard your feelings ("It's just a game, what are you on about?" or "Sheesh, grow a pair. It's not hurting anyone." ) then perhaps their hesitance over acknowledging your feelings on the matter is a little red flag that that could extend to much larger issues down the road.

Friends are important, absolutely. However your happiness and well-being should always be #1. And if you're no longer comfortable hanging around someone and they're not willing to compromise with you, then they are not someone worth your time. How the community feels about this particular and the "in-game economy" doesn't mean jack in this instance. If you don't personally care about the issue, then don't bother. If you're uncomfortable with the whole thing and find yourself no longer enjoying your time with this friend, then talk to them. Take whatever actions feel necessary depending on how that turns out.

I actually do live in Colorado (have been since 98)
so I'm not a huge fan of the stupid stoner antics, we're witnessing them in droves and it's not a pretty sight.. Nonetheless, I'm not going to advocate a murder charge on potheads because it fuels cartels.

You think legal weed doesn't come from Cartels? There was a warehouse that shut down a couple years ago precisely because of that reason (they were getting weed from South of the border illegally)

I'm in WA, so don't know much about CO. The WA process tracks the growth from seed to flower in both indoor and outdoor grow operations sanction and licensed by the State (hence the higher taxes at point of sale). I'm fairly confident the legal operations are not a Cartel affiliate, and there are in fact articles now available online, documenting how the flow of weed in America has shifted from south to north, to now north to south, as the legal operations in USA's NW regions produce much higher quality product than those who need to hide their operations in the South.

Conversely, a lot of ILlegal stuff comes from little old grannies and/or cancer patients trying to supplement their income because they're technically allowed to grow more than they need in some states.
But then again, the whole "cartel" thing is a pointless argument in this case, as RMT within a game is not like the cartels, it's the street-level dealers whose allegiance to "cartels" is unimportant next to the fact that they're selling in the first place.
Even the sleaziest, most evil and cutthroat Cartel in the world isn't going to do business where no one's willing to buy. Whether they exist or not is immaterial, as we can't control what other games are doing and how they handle RMT. We CAN make an effort to keep the "street level" dealing off our "block," as it were, simply by making it unprofitable to do business here.
And the best solution is to not ignore your friends engaging in RMT activities, but to talk with them. They stop buying, the spammers stop coming because there's no business to be had.

Like others say, real friendship wont be hurt by small disagreements. I dont play with cheaters, he respects that. What I meant by not doing anything about it is you knowing they cheat and you still continue to play with them. You talk about having tolerance for friends who cheat? you would let someone you are playing a game with openly cheat? Choosing not to play with a cheater is not being overly sensitive and I think maybe its you being overly sensitive about the whole keeping friends thing. Friends are easy to make and keep.

This is well said and sums up my feelings on the matter nicely. Thank you

Deal breaker, Stop being his friend.

Here is why. If you cheat a little you cheat a lot.

    Starts with gil,
    But where does it stop.

I wouldn't want my account being screwed by something someone else did.

    Lets say.
player 1 Oh can I have some gil to get XXX item I will pay you back tomorrow when my YYY sells.
    Player 2 ok
Player 1-2 banned because player 2 buys gil and SE follows the gil.
