It's probably Steam's fault that any other code doesn't work.

It's not SE's choice to make steam codes and regular codes incompatible. That's steam forcing them to do it. For every purchase on steam a cut gets sent to Valve. They want their cut. It's that simple. So out of all the posts, one of you gave me the answer I needed. You are all justifying, in 2015, a game that can't make a key work through the Mogstation to bind to your account? A successful company like Square Enix? I know you lot think this is an actual MMO that is challenging as opposed to a mindless time waster with Final Fantasy references and I had always wondered why until now. Now you see why I don't use these forums and use the Steam ones instead. There's an actual community of gamers over there.
Thank you, Alberel. I'm in the process of getting my refund and buying it on Steam.
Erm, its your fault the key doesnt work it has nothing to do with SE or Steam. You bought the wrong version, you may aswell complain that the ps4 version doesnt work on pc...So out of all the posts, one of you gave me the answer I needed. Seriously, if it wasn't that the mods are quick to ban people on this forum, I'd tell you off on a lengthy message.
But I'll just tell you to read the product description next time before being trigger-happy on the "add to cart" > "checkout"
Its 100% your fault for this.
Hey Darkobra - if you are checking the real community on steam, then you must have seen the post Steam has had up on the FFXIV main page since Mid-March explaining that you need to buy the expansion from Steam. Right? So out of all the posts, one of you gave me the answer I needed. You are all justifying, in 2015, a game that can't make a key work through the Mogstation to bind to your account? Also, this is not SE doing anything, it is Valve and Valve only. They have extremely restrictive licensing agreements. Valve knows they have a captive audience of customers and we all technically agree to this practice by accepting our end-user agreement when we sign up for Steam.

This is why people in this day and age feel so entitled to everything, no one accepts responsibility for their actions.
