I am first to admit I do not tank in DF to many bad experiences when I tried, and I will not put up with idiots. I am an average tank, I do tanking for friends when they need and that's it. I am a panic player when it comes to tanking and healing and unfortunately i had 80% of bad experiences when in DF tanking. - the only time I go in DF as tank is if I have at least 1 of my friends with me.

DF was the reason I stopped tanking all together for 6 months, then my friends got me out of my shell and we started going slowly into dungeons with them guiding me. So yeah, if a friend asks I won't have problem tanking, but you won't see me in DF - aside my main is BRD (and second is SMN)

I was whm as main, hated it. Tested blm as main , all fun. But then 2 RL friends started playing and they both DPS, so I went and leveled gladiator with em. And I fell in love with my Paladin. As a tank I am in some sort of "controll". And after watching other tanks win and fail several times, I knew what to do and not to do. But it took some balls from my end to actually test out Extreme primals, and other new content in the Duty finder. But by being diplomatic and understanding. Letting em know ur new to the dungeon, please give me tips or whatnot, alwawys helps. I actually get a little adrenaline kick from testing out new stuff now.

The key is Communication. Constructive Communication. And if ppl are rude, shrug it off, reply with kindness or very diplomatic understandable replies. And in most cases ppl reply kindly back and say sorry for being rude. If they still are rude, ignore. And move on in the duty. Dont waste energy on going down to their rude level.
It is actually very very simple. What you are telling me , Would you have someone tell you the same? I dont want ppl to be rude to me for no reason or some small belitteling reason in a game.. So I dont spit out rudeness onto others.
I do DF everyday as PLD sometimes alone , sometimes with a dps or heal FC/LS friend. And havent met one rude person from my 1 year MainTanking in Duty finder. And instant join queue is just super. As a family guy I love the feeling i can just sit down press "Join" in duty finder, And in I go. I check the HP of my fellow group mates. And this will give me some sort of indication on how big pulls I can do. If I wanna try big big, I ask first if they are up to it.
The only thing that anyos me regarding DPS (and yes I played BLM as main in the start) is the instant nuking as soon as my shield lob hits the boss. Let me build up some hate for 5 seconds. Your super though hard nukes 1 second after pull isnt helping the group.. And in Tower 24 man runs this just messes up the whole start of the boss fight.. Hate control goes both ways! And Bards, in DF give me that MP song, so we can flash the entire duty bright with lights! (yes I have Riot blade, but mp song makes it more effecient in the long run. And I can stun trash mob around me while flashing.) Tanking is fun, hope to see ya in the duty someday!
And a side note: Its easy to learn dps.there is always one or more of you in every duty. If in doubt look or ask the next DPS in group. As Tanks your the only one there. And if ur new and never tanked b4 how would you know what to do. (excluding 2 tanks duties). So the overall learning curve for tanks is a bit longer than other jobs. Healers also get it hard in start. So all dps'ers, have patience. If u watch something grows, it usually grows into something beautifull. It all depends on how you say it, not what you say.

Yikes, that's pretty hostile of them. Still, I'm glad you didn't give him or her the satisfaction of an early kick. Some people need to be taught a lesson or they'll never learn in the end.

I play a Paladin myself, and I've had my fair share of hostile players. Mercifully, I find most parties are quite happy to just get on with things, but there are always those passive-aggressive types (who are almost inevitably DPS jobs) which like to pull extra mobs just to speed through content quicker. This is often done regardless of whether the healer can keep up.

Still, my thoughts are that people just prefer playing DPS classes because they get to deal large amounts of damage. When you can visualize your contributions to the group, it ultimately feels a bit more rewarding.

    I'm pretty confused here. O.o
So many people really abuse tanks? I remember only like 1 or 2 times a tank got yelled at, and one of them was by the other tank...

While I was still learning how to tank, I was verbally abused lot of times and lot of time people pulled because I was to slow with them - if this happens now I just stand there looking at them and let them die (because if I do df normally the healer is a friend of mine, so we just watch them die)

    -------------------

I try always to be nice whatever role I am in a dungeon, and if I have nothing nice to say or if they irritate me so much I just am silent. Whatever the job i am in (tank/healer/dps)

As someone who plays WAR (got it to 50 on the 30/07/2014) and maybe occasional PLD in DF nearly every day. I can remember only a few times someone was complaining.
Had many tanks while leveling other classes that couldn't tank if their life depended on it and not listening to advice and they never got any of the "abuse".
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I found the abuse died down once I was well geared, but yeah... early low-geared tanks can get all kinds of abuse. It's really unfair to up and coming players to try and deal with the kinds of situations being forced on them. As a White Mage healing one particular Paladin, I had to warn him to ignore the DPS's calls for larger pulls because he simply didn't have the gear to survive them.

I usually don't run into a lot of rude players prolly cause I'm on a Jp server and they don't really express attitude as often. Majority of Jp dps I get in the df are quite and just do there jobs well and don't pull cause they can, on occasion I get one dps who is in such a rush that they love to pull bosses themselves. Since I run roulettes with my friend and we swap tank and healer roles we 100% of the time if a dps pulls trash or a boss cause they want to go faster we wait outside of the boss room with the other pug dps and let them die. Usually followed by the response are you done trying to rush now?

I'm on Jap server, most player here not that talkative, we all assume everyone know their roles.
And from what I have experienced Tank and Healer will try to synch their pace together,
whether Tank will slow down for Healer to catch up or vice versa, DPS just following around.

And nowaday there are many player that going T13 just want try to Tank and Heal there.
Things got pretty messy sometimes, but I'm not really that mad because after 15min we vote abandon and try again.

Also the act of dealing damage is more engaging to most people.
