I'll make as quick and simple as i can.
Something feel amiss me , Item level from usual or enhenced vs top crafted gears.
We all know that crafting takes lot of time , lot of patience , lot of dedictation and most of all lots of money.
Its not something " light " in the game. Now, my point is , actual top crafted items are item level 110 with possible melds. Like i mentionned , time, patience , dedictation and money. I know having to gather tomes and allied seals also ask energy and time. But gathering tomes and allied seals are hapenning in a very entertaining environment with many players , much actions , friends and can give you gears , commendations and give you the opportunity to meet other players. Now. This way , you easilly get to a fully 130 item level gearset witch give you a pretty high average item level.
Now , think about the crafting way lastest gears are made. Ask any skilled crafter around you , ask him what it take to finally make possible to craft item level 110 gears. Its a HELL of a ride AND , its not even meld yet so its weaker then usual and easilly accessible gears. We hit 3 problems here. First , ppls that ask for precise item level in PF , item level require to enter DF and finally the actual item level of ppls who use , pay or craft 110 item level gears and still need to meld em to finally end up being under almost everyone around " item level speaking " having their tomes gearset. Everyone know it , melding cost YOUR LIFE. And even someone being fully pantameled will have to look at his own item level being under , all other tomes , allied sealed gearset.
Lets be honnest , is it fair ? We ALL want to have a descent and even a pretty high end character. But , the only single infos as digit we have as an average about us , is Item level. Now i say , crafted item level being 110 , is , unfair. Considering both ways to get both kind or gearset , ill say it straight , its wrong. Look at this , theoretically speaking, top crafted gears are 120 ( we are patch 2.5 ) . Depending on the quality , the quantity and quality of materia choosen to meld , those gears should improve themselve in item level and get 5 item level with a possibility of 4 improvements base on the melding. So.... item 120 , 125 , 130 , 135 , 140. Why ending now with a slightly more higher item level ??? Simple , crafting ask peoples a lot more efforts and time and money and patience and time playing alone and im not even mentioning the terrible RNG and the terrible possibility to miss , scrap your damn item level 110 that cost HELL in mats. And one last thing , cause i already see peoples coming back to me with this ... we dont all have time to go inspect characters on the lodestone and personally i dont even want to do this. One last thing ( ok i swear its the real last one ... lol ) , how many of you have ever benefit at least once of a good crafter friend ?? We all did. And please Square Enix , could that last 7% possibility actually be a real 7% ?!?!?
