    A little gardening help?

I'm not sure if I've done something wrong, but I was attempting to plank Krakka Root and Chamomile to get Curiel Root seeds. Because of the shorter grow time my Krakka Root matured to harvest first, but died off completely before my chamomile could mature. My understanding is that you need to have all the plants in the bed to get the crosses, and even though I planted fresh Krakka Roots, I got only one Curiel Root seed when the chamomile matured.

Any thoughts on what I did wrong, or how to prevent that from happening?

When your plants are ready to harvest, harvest them the other plants will still cross breed as they were planted next to the krakka.
For a little tip next time plant more krakka next to the other plants to do more crossbredding and just replace what plants you have dug up

That's what I wound up doing. Why did I only get one Curiel Root seed though? I used Grade 3 Than topsoil, and in my other gardening endeavors that always resulted in a cross. Should I not have gotten 4?

Cross breeding is not 100% chance so like most of this game you have to hope your on the good side of rng. The higher the grade soil better the chance of cross breeding but never 100% chance

Even grade 3 soil will yield a very low chance of getting Curiel, so I usually stick with grade 2 to be more cost effective (the difference is negligible for some crosses).

You should not have let the krakka root die off. Harvest whenever it's available. Crossbreeding is determined when the plant is planted, which means harvest time has no impact... And also means that when planting, you should plant them alternating in order, rather than, say, planting krakka in each corner and then chamomile in between.

On that note, one thing you may wanna try is whenever you have a rarer seed (like when trying for thavnairian onions) or a more desirable plant to harvest (krakka over chamomile), you can try only fertilizing the cheaper or more affordable seed and leaving the other alone. This lets you breed multiple times off of the more expensive or less desirable crop.

I suggest using Grade 3 Shroud soil for Krakka crosses only, for both the Krakka and the seed you are crossing with it. You only have a 10-20% chance of getting the seed you want, but you will get 9 at a time on top of the extra Krakka roots.

If you are making Thav Onions, the ideal 3 bed grow-op is:
    1. Glazenuts x Apricots (grade 3 than soil) -> Glazenut Seeds
    2. Glazenuts x Pahsana (grade 3 than soil) -> Apricot Seeds + Thav Onion Seeds
    3. Thav Onions x Linseed (grade 3 shroud soil) -> Pahsana Seeds + Linseed
When you have Pahsana Seeds and Thav Onion seeds built up, swap out the Linseed in the 3rd bed with onions and make a full bed of Thav Onions.

This setup is self-sustaining as long as you have about 20 Glazenut and Apricot seeds built up. Both will dip down at times based on RNG, but long term you will have enough.

Thank you! That is really helpful! My ultimate aim IS Thav Onions...
