I want to be a quest chain and raid and crafters mix
So. You have to to do a big chain of hard quest. But need a rare item (not too much rare) from raid. Once there you will need crafter help to evolve your rare drop into a relic weapon.
But for that you will need
• rare/ex drop from raid.
• rare item which recipe need a NM drop.
• rare/ex item bought from grandcompanys.
• rare/ex item from chain quest
Thats only for one level. Meaby 3 or 5 levels till reach relic.
I hope the relic involve all game content. Not only a infnite repetitive dungeon for ever till reach matts.
Rise III, Can i have it?
Here's an idea.
'Random encounter' world bosses. What would happen is before a world boss spawns in a particular area, their coming is announced by an announcer in all 3 cities. Then any parties that want to take part sign up to it on some kind of task board. They must then travel to the area the world boss was reported to be in and battle it. All parties will take part in it's battle as if one giant party, it could consist of up to 100 or even more people, no real limit, and the difficulty and health of the boss would scale to how many players it had to battle. However a minimum player size would probably be an idea since soloing it would be silly.
Once defeated the boss would give each party a random part of a legendary item. The overall size of the battle party from how many players were involved overall could even dictate if a HQ version of an item part is obtained. The party would have take part in many of these 'random encounter world boss' events that would happen say.... 2 or 3 times a day, maybe 5 times, and get all parts to the legendary item, the bosses would differ in what it was and where it appeared in the world, thus 'random encounter'.
They are then notified when all parts of the legendary item have been obtained by a quest being given to them automatically upon aquiring the final item.
This quest would entail them going to a special dungeon that you could not enter without a completed set of legendary item parts, and once completed, would allow the player with all the items to forge the completed legendary item and wield it.
This would mean that getting a legendary item would take quite a while and be pretty difficult.
Getting a High Quality legendary item would be EXTREMELY hard to obtain, as you'd need to have taken part in very large scale world boss encounters multiple times and had the luck to obtain a full set of the HQ parts to the legendary item. It would also be nice if that high quality version had something slightly different about it's appearance that marked it as 'the legendary of legendary' items. (something like an awesome glow etc.)
This way casual gamers would be able to get legendary items if they spent enough time working towards it, it would still take months though.
Hardcore gamers could get the awesome legendary items though, so both types of players would not be ignored for their dedication to the game.
What do you think? ^.^
I think they should be so hard to obtain in theory that you would be surprised if someone actually got one. That way, it is special and a real goal. I think developers are tending to make it so everyone wins, when in reality, not everyone wins. You have to work hard for the best stuff. I think that principle should apply everywhere, even in games.
Knowing Yoshida, relics will drop from Guildleves.
"Bone tired people can't be bothered doing party required instances."
how about making said items craftable via the bazaar after a lengthy gathering process mentioned in previous posts that way would eliminate any crafters ninjaing your 1337 item
I'd be ok with a Quest Chain from an NPC that had you killing several NM's in the game multiple times over for a 2% chance drop for an item that went towards the 'reconstruction/repair' of a Relic.
(And I'm not talking 'instanced' leve type NM's.. World NM's where you're competing against everyone else and their party for the same NM and it's drops)
The kind of quest chain that has you wishing long and painful deaths on the NPC, it's family, and the development team behind the addition of Relic Quests into the game. Long before you've actually completed the quest.
Now given there'd only be 1 or 2 Relics per class, with only a 2% chance to drop a 'Relic Item' that may or may not be the part your after.
Once you have all the required pieces, the NPC will extort a considerable sum of Gil, and Crystals out of you, to finally restore the relic to it's full glory. Then you can parade around Eorzea with your new found status Item
A restriction of 1 Relic per Character would be a means of maintaining some form of exclusivity to relics.
Choose a class, and the relic (Weapon or Armor) that you want. But choose wisely, because if you change your mind you will have to surrender the Relic to the NPC who restored it (And forfeit all the Gil, Time, and Crystals invested into it), and begin the entire process anew.
Obviously, a detailed description of each relic, Including Stats and Pic's as Equipped to several characters, would be necessary so players could make an informed decision on which relic they wish to pursue.

forget ffxi in the past, ffxi was crappy hardcore game, but the time changes please no more post "we want ffxi-2"Greetings!
The entire post in it's Wall-o-Text glory can be found here.
It is in said post that Yoshida makes a comment regarding implementation items such as Excalibur (often classified as relic weapons) sometime in the far future.
It is after reading the post in it's entirety that I wonder how such items shall be obtained by the player base.
I personally liked the lore & quests associated with trying to obtain a relic weapon in a Final Fantasy title. It was a long & grueling process, but in the end I felt a sense of accomplishment because I obtained an item unlike anything else in the game (Or in FF11 terms, an item that very few people had).
That being said, how would you like these relic items to be obtained if you had a say?
Instanced dungeons? Crafted from rare items? Or that long & grueling process that gave meaning to the word "relic"? Or something else?
I don't mind Time consuming, But it should be a self powered quest. You should not need a large linkshell or a bunch of money. It should be more about Singular Skill. Similar to the Maat Fights in XI, but more involved in the quest as a whole.
I have to thank Square-Enix for the amazing job they have done recreating Final Fantasy XIV from Scratch. Especially the inclusion of Missing Genders which we petitioned for in good faith. This was proof to us players that the Developers are truly Sympathetic to our requests and that being honest and vocal can pay off with the amazing characters we have who are Female Roegadyn, Male Miqote, and Female Highlanders. Thank You SE, Thank You Community Team, Thank You Yoshi-P.
In theory, this is great. But never works out. They make it too easy. That's why I think it should require group element, large sums of gil, and a bit of luck. I think the FFXI relic system was actually quite good.
