Also surprised at the lack of rage in here. It's quite nice, given that ANY sort of downtime with WoW resulted in dozens of duplicate threads across General, CS and Tech Support forums at any given time. If there were 24 hours of downtime in WoW, the forums would probably become a singularity of chaos and rage. Here, it's just another day. *.*

I'm happy having time IRL even when it's taking up most of my time while spending about 2 hours in Eorzea on a daily basis hahha. Down for 24 hours? No biggie.. just means i have more time to sleep. Square Enix ain't taking down the servers for good anyway... i mean com'on look at FF11 lol

Wait the update is on the 18th? I thought we were getting a week early access to the game for those who pre-order? Well 3 days is enough to get one class to level 60 and explore a good portion of the Heavensward before it finally becomes open to everyone else.

EA is 19th-23rd.
Hopefully there's no maint on 23rd, or it's just gonna lead to massive server crashes, to start of the launch...

a whole 24 hour maintenace sounds excessive, but at least we get to download the stuff on the 18th and the download time won't take a chunk out of early access. Hmm, at least I'll have time to watch some Hannibal.

Other MMOs neither do a 24h maintenance to patch their Addon stuff, nor do they require a pretty big DL ~12 hours before you actually need the Data. (==preload)

You get to download signficantly earlier, while downtime is less. In addition people can actually log in earlier. Going from Maintenance to Early Access is like asking your customers to DDOS your login servers. You don't even have to both about game servers actually crashing, because logins might crash earlier.
