I can confirm that you do not get a pre order code right away from Amazon. While in the past people were able to do things like that you no longer can. I pre ordered from Amazon months ago and I never got a code. Finally I found out that they are not giving their codes out until the 19th. I didn't want to wait that long to enter mine so I ended up canceling my order and just buying it through the SE store.

Unlike previous updates, patch 3.0 contains content that can only be accessed by registering FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward to your service account.
Worded exactly the same as it is above the Au Ra part in the patch notes. [:
