I... have to say "not really". They can use that Early Access to start getting to Heavensward. Even if they only make it to, say, level 30, that's still 30 levels they wouldn't have if they hadn't had Early Access. Sure, they (most likely) won't be able to enter Ishgard or anything during Early Access, but that doesn't mean it would be pointless.

Either way, it is what it is =/
