Heavensward DOH Leveling Plan?

I think we're talking about beyond scribs.. as in, bypassing the time limitation altogether and just getting to the most profitable scenario which I believe will require some heavy heavy investment (got a stack of each craft IV materia ready, they're cheap right now too )

being 100% self sufficient is not possible in 3.0 1st month. for sure. it will take time to level/gear up.

There will be people doing the self sufficiency thing within the first week if not a couple days, those will be the people making most of the money, rest will have to pay through their noses to gear up or wait months using scribs. (Then when you consider that if you reach the top a few weeks quicker, you'll be making money that much sooner.. so most will probably just pay the premium to get geared up)

It seems most of this thread is working on the assumption that 50 - 60 will continue to build from 4-star gear. This is highly unlikely and stockpiling Craftsmanship IV materia will be as useful as stockpiling ice in Antarctica. It is far more likely that while a bit of a struggle, the 50 - 53 items will be accessible even by people in Patrician's gear. To make HQ you will need all or most HQ materials with that gear, but you'll be able to do so without materia enhancement. Much like hitting your first Class Quest with crafted gear and needing to HQ for the quest.

Stockpiling items for Leve turn ins 45 - 50 at 50 seems silly. Your leves would probably be better spent on level appropriate leves for your chosen class.

No, I'm keeping my materia around to gear up at level 60 for the end-game crafting. You're not seeing the end-game goal here which is why you believe differently..
Hell, I have 30k of each shards and 10k of crystals stocked up, I'm not really worried about gearing up through 50-53, that's not a concern for me, I also have enough mats to make a few hundred 1-2 star items in each class if necessary. I'm sure it won't be needed, but for whatever reason if I run into a barricade, I'll just sit there and churn out my 1600 twinthreads into some low level clothes to get me over the hump.

You're missing the big picture, stop worrying about 50-53 transition, think about what you're going to do at level 60. Which should be.. about 2 days after early access.

this will go against SE direction to make crafting more accessible. but still have that hardcore/hardest recipe content for master crafters ^^.

As for being self sufficient, expect some people to be just that, well within the first month.

i honestly believe each crafting mission will reward massive amount of clusters/crystals/shards.

i would assume similar to how we started. where we were handed alot of shards to start crafting.

was it 5k per type? in total? (and that was from 1 to 15).

Not nearly so many, less then 1k shards per type. Somewhere in the 500-700 range I believe.

I really want to level DoH up as fast as possible, but for the 1st day there will be few mats on the market because Gathering will be gated behind flying mounts which means progressing through the story becomes the only way to do anything for the first half of 19th. But once mats start selling on the MB, I'll just craft.

What do you guys think about GC 40k exp manuals? Do you think they'll be worth it?

We don't even know if the 60 gear will even have materia slots, or it may be so close to max Craftmanship that even a Craftmanship +3 will only get +1. I can't really look at the big picture, because as far as I know, we've barely even have a glimpse at what will even be needed / available at 60.

Y do ppl think gear will continue down the path of 4 star at level 51 lol.
Like can u imagine how absurd the stats/ crafts would be? ( 20 star crafts lol wtf )
Our current artisan stuff etc will just allow us to skip gearing up for a level or two.
Im also positive they will add new materia tiers/ new materia, cuz using the same I , II, III, IV materia evey patch will be wtf lol.
The majority wont hit 60 till maybe near the 1st week due to server maintenance, errors, d/c, play style. You also have to have ppl reach end game gathering for those high end materials for crafters to craft high end gear lol.
Ofc there will be ppl reaching 60 in 2 days, there will be reddit posts explaining the new leveling route etc, what to meld/ craft.

i feel full artisan/lucis pentamelded gear will be enough for at least the first 3 levels. maybe upt to 4 levels. guessing here lol

Level your desynth on the il115 gear sold in Ishgard. Then use those mats to level your DoH. The gatherers got shafted on this one as the mats they can get first, can be bypassed by desynthers completely. I have stacks of agates, mythrite nuggets, and rainbow threads/cloth from about 1 hour of desynthing. My desynth skills are now weaver 139.14 and gsm 140. This was a huge mistake on SE's part. I thought about keeping it to myself, as I am the only one on my server with these mats on the MB....but it is just so stupidly easy that I didn't want to see people blowing up expensive shit for nothing or paying huge prices on the mats.

Edit: also you make collectible items and turn them in for scrips (essentially tomestones for crafters). Red require level 60 and wont come out until savage alex is released.
