Any idea if I download Heavensward as digital copy, will FFXIV CD still be required to play the game? Because Heavensward is classified as Add-ons.
I'm asking this because the PS4 has a glitch were it automatically ejects the disc while playing.

i thought you installed the game to your ps4 hard drive anywaysdoes it require the disk to launch currently?
well, it's my assumption then that it'll require the base game disk to launch. Since the expansion likely lacks the launcher and just has expansion game assets.
I am under the impression that Heavensward just acts like a DLC. My Ps4 buddies tells me its "listed" as DLC and just requires an installation?
lol err why would you not need the disc?, that's as common as sense gets!.

If the base game requires the disc, then so will Heavensward. You're buying an expansion, not a standalone game so it needs the base game to run. With that in mind, anything the base game needs to play (ie, the disc) will be needed to play Heavensward.
I play on ps3 so this might be irrelevant.
On ps3 the disc was only required to install the data on the hard drive, no disc is required to play.
I just deleted the game from my ps4 and downloaded the digital copy from the store. I no longer need the disc to play
