They're doing it from the hotel, because the convention floor is CLOSED during the time of the reading.
Also they've never done a patch note reading on stage.
It's not like it matters where they're reading it lol. Personally, watching someone read something that I have access to isn't entertaining or even informative in any sense of the word. So, I'll pass.

For main patches they always release the notes beforehand this should be no different which is why they should be out in English for you to read probably before they are read at E3.

Actually this is the first year the general public will be allowed into E3. But I'm pretty sure I read it will be limited to 4000 tickets for the general public.

Not that that really makes a difference with this. I'd rather read through the notes myself in half the time than listen to someone read them to me. And have to sit through the Japanese and the English translation. That would take forever.

I went to E3 once in 2002, its fun in a sense you can play all these games but whats not fun is anything that is popular at the time was pretty much anything Nintendo like Zelda and Mario on gamecube has long lines and a lot of waiting around. Actually remember playing FFXI there. Would I want to go again probably not once was enough. The lines really were not fun.

Whenever they have done this before they have released the patch notes in all languages at the same time or immediately after. There is zero reason to be throwing a tantrum over this. We will have the patch notes on the lodestone on the same day.

From what I understand, patch notes reading is something they always do in Japanese. I think they do this at the same time that they release the patch notes itself (across all supported languages) in text form.

And the venue might be E3 but the 'patch note reading' itself might only be streamed in the Japanese channel (nico nico). The reason is because the developers just happen to be in E3 doing other sorts of presentations (in english), while they release the patch notes. And since they do these stuff anyway, might as well do it in E3 where all their cameras are already set up and stuff.

Its patch notes, what do you people want? They need to go through it all with an english translator at their side, taking 3x as long while everything is translated and given breaks in between? We're going to get the patch notes on the lodestone at the same time or right after. There's your translation right there, just open it in another window and read along while Yoshi and Foxclon are speaking, just like most live letters.

It's a complete waste of time to have someone sitting there next to them translating it, we're getting the live letter in english a few days later which is more than we usually get. The (PRELIMINARY) patch note reading is just for a bit of fun and hype leading up to Heavensward launch.

Hell, the last live letter was in PARIS and they did it in japanese and english instead of french. Where were the complaints about 'omg letter taking place in France and they're only doing it in japanese and english not french HOW DARE THEY?!'

The things people want to complain about and feel entitled over make me just want to bash my head against a brick wall sometimes.

This IS pretty lame. I have a hard time believing that the majority of the player base only speaks Japanese, considering there's more English servers than Japanese ones.

But then again, I spend more time reading the patch notes to people I play with than I actually do playing, so... maybe they know most people are too dumb/lazy to read them or even care.
