The first FF Tittle in a next gen console sells like hotcakes, look at FFIV, FFVII, FFX, FFXIII all first FF tittles in their respective consoles and the one's that sold the most on their respective consoles, was IV better than VI ? Hell no, was X better than XII ? Hell no, anyways there is also the FF name thing, i personally bought FFXIII because it is FF, and since i loved FFXII(IMO the third best FF on their entire series) i bought it, and well lets say it is the only FF tittle i never finished, and returned.

How bad has the situation gotten when we argue about the meaning of 11 employees being hired into a huge organization. Who cares. I am sure SE had tons of employees during the 5 years they made FFXIV and look how amazing that did. Great they are hiring 11 more employees, are those guys going to go to my friends houses who quit the game and make them play again? No? Oh then I will say I am glad they continue to support FFXIV but do I feel like these 11 unnamed noobs are gonna be the FFXIV savior? No.

I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!

Another thing that could be noted about these ground-breaking FF's is during their opening sequences it will sometimes list a 'project team' with a date. FFX was in development whilst they were still finishing off FF9. S.E just seem to choose to take longer on making some FF's good and not so much on others.

TL-DR version, SE is hiring 11 new employees for tghe FFXIV team, and just as a juicy addition, several of those positions list "experience in console development" as a preferred trait

    Chew on it
Failing? Seems to me they are giving the FFXIV team some more members as it should have so they can get things faster. More than likely this is a sign of getting ready to prep PS3 launch down the line. Probably need some more teams or members to beef up teams.

Had you said "x, y and z were fired" then maybe that would be a sign of fail. More team members is positive.

    They should hire me.

Pay me £10 an hour for 7 hours a day to not post in the forums.

This would benefit everyone immensely (b'.')b

someone said this on Zam. its technically true for all businesses.
SE is after all working on a few important projects atm, whoes to say FFXIV staff is actually getting larger?

although it would make sense to expand your team if your anticipating a large surge of new/returning players and want to train people before hand for that release. interesting though.
Doesn't actually mean they are expanding the staff for the game (totally raining on the parade here), could mean they are moving the experienced higher paid staff onto other projects and taking cheaper unproven new staff on to fill their roles.

Depends what the jobs they are recruiting for and if they are already filled etc.
Could be a good or a bad sign honestly.

Ahem, I always hate to burst a bubble (naaah, not really, I love it), but while SE is a huge organization, only a fraction of that organization is made of developers, and only a fraction of all those developers actually is part of the FFXIV team, as SE produces something like 10 or more titles at the same time.

Let's stay VERY optimistic and assume that the development team of FFXIV is 100 people strong (which is a definitely large team for a MMORPG), this means that with the new hirees the team has been increased in size by 10%, which is a rather big deal.

Ah, negative nancyness, it's lovely to see how it normally conflicts with realism.

This might have been a realistic option if we were talking about a couple people. But 11 people hired all at the same time mean only one thing, bolstering the ranks. When people get moved to different projects during in a company, it doesn't happen in large chunks.

Not surprised to see that it comes from that lair of hairy trolls called ZAM though. The average IQ in that place makes this forum look like MENSA

its true for the last two corporations i worked for... not sure how things are done where your from. if the team is quite large then 11 people is a very small number to note. if its a small team then obviously they are probably expanding.

Aww yeah baby just think if we would have had those extra 11 team members a year ago, maybe chocobos would have only taken 11 months to come out instead of 12 months!
