Player has ignored everything they are doing to make everything more accessible, so that they may continue to complain.
not necessarily true. if all this new money goes away in a few months because they hit level 50 and are now "bored". or rush rush rush through new content so they can cancel the sub cause they "beat the game". or only re-sub once in a while to patch. . . that's not appealing. the bread and butter comes from those of us who always have something to do and thus keep our subs live.
To sum it up. Because I am new, I do not want to work hard for anything lol
I just came back from a veeeeery long break from the game, and even when I did play I didn't get around to the MSQ line for various reasons. Honestly, I might not catch up with the MSQ before Heavensward which sucks despite how much time I'm putting into it now that I finally can play like a normal person lol.
With that said, this game is a story based game and it would be dumb for them to get rid of it.
I think you are underestimating how life and fates are going to be in 3.0.Once rested EXP runs out, running dungouns starts to slow down in terms of EXP gain, and FATE grinding becomes more beneficial as it gives you not only decent kill/mob in a good party, but also rewards you with gil and exp at the end every time.
When I leveled my PLD to 50 and lacked Bonus, I relied on FATE's. Mind you, I did most my leveling pre-themassive dungoun buff with most jobs so I can't recall if I had that option or not (been a while), but even still, I think that you're overestimating how lucrative the dungouns can be compared to an 8-man fategrind party burning things down. .
As all of the monsters in the new zone are going to be more powerful (as per Yoshi's comments) that a single person can take on 1, maybe 2 (if they try really hard) monster at a time. What happened to that monster when it suddenly spawns 15-20 of them in close quarter.
Now if you are talking about spamming fates in N thanalan, how long to you really expect those fates to be relevant? What if, by chance, that they raise the xp requirement like they did in XI. The new levels increased significantly every few levels. While I don't have a lot of insight into the XP needed for new levels, from experience with their PvP ranks, they could very well do this. I know its not the same, but this is the Final Fantasy franchise which has been known to massively increase needed XP for levels after reaching a certain point (level) in their past games.
You also do not know how anything related to fates are going to change either. SE is being very tight lipped about it. (unless there is some interview out there I missed). My point is, until they actually release 3.0, its all a wait and see game.
Also, the biggest of my points. You don't (currently) receive equipment from fates.
And it's because of this very reason some MMOs that used to be great has become complete shit. No we do not want Final Fantasy XIV to degenerate with every new expansion. The game does not need to be giving out welfare treatment to new players or returning players just so they can keep and increase player base. Easing and streamlining quest requirement, creating new classes available at the starting cities or even some new low level dungeons is the maximum the developers could do to set new players into the game with some level of new content in future. Not start to throw new players right into the fray of the latest high level goodies right from the get go because Heavensward content IS for the ones who are done with all that is in ARR. It is how the developers intended it to be, all that new classes and new continents are for the existing player base who have played and grinded on the existing content in the previous months/years. And they aren't making ARR content obsolete at all because they will definitely be integrating some perks for veteran players to go back to old content with rewards that is relevant.
The new classes is already one of the ways they are getting veteran players back into ARR content so new players will have absolutely no issue getting a group. Finishing the main story speedily and getting right into the newest content within a week or two. But some of the complains here just reeks reasons like "I hate doing low lvl dungeons because people are mean" "Getting a group for primals is a bitch" "Going through all that 'old' content is a drag" and they say they are speaking for new players? Come on man stop trying to take the higher morale ground and just say you are lazy and you are just speaking for yourself.

Then how would you categorize FFXIV 1.0 with graphics > gameplay > story. The whole FF franchise is built on stories, they tried to change that (among other things) in 1.0 and failed miserably. The name Final Fantasy is synonymous with good to great stories. It is SE's niche market.
This thread still going?
The Primal of the Lalafell says; "If you can't put in the effort, you don't deserve the cookie."
We just did an absolutely fun teaching Castrum Meridium for one of our FC members. We had to pick up a healer from queue, but she understood and appreciated the fact that we were going over the whole dungeon step by step and explaining what was going on behind the scenes in a few places (like after the parade wall doors open and the tanks darken the searchlights and shoot down the ship. No one explained that to me when I was a newbie, then I got a rude awakening as a tank later on.)
As long as there are good free companies willing to turn a CM teaching run into a party, there will always be people doing the old content for the new players.
Plus I got blinding light on my axe so yay.
I just commented on this in another thread, but this one is more accurately on topic. I don't think the restriction on completing the story to enter the new areas is permanent, I think its a method to reduce server stress. That said, the restriction on Ishgard will probably always be tied to the story. This city has been looming over us since the very beginning, I'm talking 1.0. Finally being able to see it from the inside is earned. I don't see any real reason players can't access the surrounding areas without going into ishgard(eventually), I'm fine with them blocking out the band wagon hoppers for a little while. I was here when Dalamud fell and crashed the servers because there were just too many people. I was here when the realm was reborn and the 1014 minigame was a daily thing, spent hours in the ENORMOUS mountain slopes of Coerthas looking at that city and wondering what it was like on the inside and I've been waiting four years to see it. You can wait 2 weeks.
