At this point, I'm not fighting it... but I concede.

Seeing as there's not much point in me getting Heavensward as of right now, the hype just got lost in me.
I'm taking a break for now. Then maybe get back again when I feel like it.
I've got access to HW and even my hype is low at the moment :/, so I can't blame you for losing hype when you don't even have access to it.

I do not like a lot of the changes made to existing things in the game. Plus I've been addicted to and really enjoying The Witcher 3...maybe that has something to do with it :P.

Newb Adventurer B: Dark Knight? That sounds awesome! Where do we sign up?
    Ishguard: Halt! Who goes there!
Newb Adventurer A: Greetings, honored guardsman of Ishgard. We have come from the distant lands of Limsa Lominsa in search of learning Ishgard's secret arts of the Dark Knight.
    Ishguard: You shall not pass!
Newb Adventurer B: Whaaat? But your Holy See has declared open gates to everyone?!
Ishguard: Only the Warrior of Light may pass these sacred grounds! Now move along!
    Newb Adventurer B: Aw bummer

Well, yeah I'm stretching this quite a bit. But I really feel we could at least get a bit of an immediate returns when we buy Heavensward. At this pace, I don't have reason to buy the expansion until I finish the MSQ first. Is that how it's supposed to be?
Actually if you walked up to the Guards in Ishgard and told them you wanted to be a Dark Knight its likely they would drive you off, if not stab you. Dark Knights are pariahs. They hunt powerful corrupt clergy using forbidden power. They hardly sound like they are part of the common establishment.

I see no problem with requiring MSQ to access Ishgard (from a story perspective). I can also see why HW would be less-appealing considering.

If most of the content is geared towards people at ilvl 110 with everything done, then it's an expansion that's only adding to the end and nothing to the middle.

It's atypical for expansions I think, which typically add low/mid-level content at the same time. As an aside, as someone with all the MSQ done, I'm a little concerned that though I've finished everything, I'll be comparably under-geared compared to someone that chose to *wait* on completing the MSQ if they added a bunch of 110 stuff as rewards. I completed things at around ilvl 95, and that was a slow progression of doing daily roulettes and the like to buy various pieces of soldiery gear.

In a way, the people that waited are kinda lucky, considering.

Yeah, I'm really sorry for playing at my own pace.

I totally regret paying attention to the beast tribes after I finished Stone Vigil.
I regret having to enjoy PvP for awhile.
I should also regret leveling my crafting and gathering at the same pace as my combat class.
I should have never tried leveling other classes.
I should never have wasted my time in Gold Saucer.

I really should have finished story mode first and foremost before doing everything else.

(sorry for being overly sarcastic and dramatic there. No offense intended, but I had to let that out a bit)

Most of the time, I have no problem speeding through the story. My only problems are the Duty parts. I play in off-peak hours in relation to North American time, in addition to having a DPS as my main class, I tend to have really boring wait times especially when selecting specific dungeons.

Also, having to do Duty Roulettes pretty much every day I can I tend to really level up fast so as such I have overtaken Story quest levels.

Grab a tank buddy. Even better, grab a tank buddy who is working on a relic. They're willing to do anything if it gives them lights or soldiery (probably poetics soon.)

This is what FCs are really made for. We've been catching people up pretty steadily for the last week.

I agree with this for one simple fact. My friend and I have an interest in the new Job classes. We both have level 50 characters, but we have not completed the MSQ through Steps of Faith. In fact we just barely beat the Ultimate Weapon, so there is quite a bit of story line that we have to tackle before we can reach the new jobs.

Honestly, he has his eye set on Machinest while I myself intend to reroll into a Summoner which I nearly have to level 30. I had hoped to we could both start at level 30 and hit the ground running. I fully intend to do all story line quests, I just wish we could do it on the jobs of our choosing.

Yes you can actually. You can travel from La Noscea to Thanalan by taking the boat (by sea), then Thanalan to Shroud by walking. Funny that lol. (I return aggressive sarcasm)

EDIT: Okay, I'll take this a bit further. You can travel from Shroud to Coerthas also by foot, then go to Mor Dhona from there with nothing to stop you, assuming you stay away from harms way... but you can easily do that by following the roads.

Lo an' behold. All major areas are available to the player if he so desires to go.
